Soccer, or “football,” as it’s called
around the world, is played on an out-
door field with 11 players per side in a
90-minute match. The field consists of
16 men’s and 12 women’s teams, with
matches taking place in seven different
stadiums across the country. The host
nation should be in contention on the
men’s side, as Brazilian star Neymar
returns to avenge a loss to Mexico in the
2012 gold medal match. The U.S. wom-
en’s team, led by Hope Solo and Alex
Morgan, looks to continue its domina-
tion, having won four of the five Olympic
competitions.
