Pickleball Demonstration
Friday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to noon, Coiner Park Tennis
Court
This sweet sport with a
‘sour’ name is the fastest
growing sport in the
world!
Festival goers are invited
to experience this paddle
sport created for all ages
and skill levels. The rules
are simple and the game
is easy for beginners to
learn – but can develop
into a quick, fast-paced,
competitive game for
experienced players!
Pickelball started 51
years ago on a rainy
Fourth of July in
Bainbridge Island, Wash.
It got its name because
one of the founders was
a Rower, and a boat full
of rowers with varying
skills is called the “pickle
boat.” Since this sport
uses a paddle and plastic
ball to combine many
elements of tennis,
badminton and ping-
pong and the name
stuck! It can be played
both indoors or outdoors
on a badminton-sized
court and a slightly
modifi ed tennis net.
Local Pickleball players
will be on hand Friday
morning to show you
how it’s done. They
play 2-3 three times a
week on Tuesday at 10
am, Wednesday at 5:30
and often sometime in
the weekend. The City
purchased the net, they
bring there own rackets
