that played under Roberts.
“We’re usually on and off
every few years with players
participating, but it was nice to
have some of the alumni play
with us,” Roberts said.
First place went to the team
of Raymond Bloom, Tony
Lefl er, Jeff Brunetti and Darren
Giffen with a score of 14-under.
The game was close all around,
but the real story is the money
raised to support the local high
school football team.
The tournament surpassed its
goal and raised a total of $3,850.
Between the 52 participants,
that is an average of nearly $75
per person.
“We got a lot of positive feed-
back. People approached me
saying they really enjoyed it and
always look forward to it every
year,” Roberts said.
The tournament was con-
sidered a great success by the
participants and organizers and
was comparable to last year’s
tournament in terms of turn out
and money raised. The money is
part of a supply fund that goes
to equipment such as practice
gear, pads and jerseys. The ath-
letic department was hit with a
budget cut earlier this year, but
does not affect the funds for
things like equipment, therefore
there was no added pressure to
raise money at the tournament,
though the goal was still easily
surpassed.
