IN MEMORIAM

Follow the best leader
for your life
W
been a very good example of
one to others either. Critical
and judgmental attitudes like
that, or murmuring, being
unthankful, and complaining
hinder our relationship with
God and our representation of
what a Christian is.
But eventually, I began to
get this nagging, uneasy feel-
ing every time I would say
something negative about the
pastor…or anyone else for
that matter. I could feel that
what I was saying was wrong,
and I knew in my heart it was
the Holy Spirit telling me it
was time to grow up and ma-
ture spiritually.
Now, I am immediately
aware when I say or do some-
thing that is not pleasing to
God. And this is what He
wants for all His children: to
develop sensitivity and obedi-
ence to His voice as He leads
each of our lives. Romans
8:14 (AMPC) declares that
“all who are led by the Spirit
of God are the sons of God.”
This term “sons” indicates a
level of maturity and intimacy
in our relationship with Him.
God is not looking for spiri-
tual robots; He wants sons.
He doesn’t want us all just
following a bunch of rules for
the sake of obedience. Jesus
made a way, through His per-
fect sacrifi ce, for our sins to
be completely washed away
and removed from us so we
can have a personal relation-
ship with God. We are free to
obey Him simply because we
love Him and we know that
everything He tells us to do,
or not do, is for our good. We
just need to learn to follow
His lead.
It’s actually exciting to
hat does it mean to
be led by the Holy
Spirit? Some may refer to it as
being fi lled with – or sensitive
to or anointed by – the Spirit.
It sounds really spiritual, but
being led by the Spirit is ac-
tually a very practical part of
living the Christian life. Sim-
ply put, to be led by the Holy
Spirit just means to be obedi-
ent to Him.
The Holy Spirit does such
awesome, yet practical work in
the lives of God’s children. He
is our Comforter, Counselor,
Helper, Intercessor, Advocate,
Strengthener and Standby. He
teaches us and guides us into
truth…and He even brings the
things we learn back to our re-
membrance as we need it.
And the best part of it all
is that He lives in each of
us. Ephesians 3:16 (AMPC)
tells us that He enables us to
be “…strengthened and rein-
forced with mighty power in
the inner man by the [Holy]
Spirit [Himself indwelling
your innermost being and per-
sonality].”
He comes to live in our
hearts when we’re born again,
and then He teaches and
guides us according to God’s
plan and purpose for us. One
of the ways He does this is
by convicting us of the sins in
our life, and we learn what’s
right and wrong as we grow
in our faith. We may get by
with things that are not right
for awhile, but the time comes
when we need to grow up. I
remember when I would go
to church every Sunday and
then gossip about the pastor
or whatever I didn’t like about
the service.
Of course, I was not a very
happy Christian during that
time. And I couldn’t have

Ursula Brigitte (Finke) Tuttle
1929-2016
Ursula Brigitte (Finke) Tuttle, 86,
passed away June 1, 2016 of age related
causes. She was born December 21, 1929
to Margarete (Finke) Moritz and Erwin
Klupsch in Gorlitz, Germany. At age 14
she graduated from high school and went
to work in her Aunt’s grocery store. At the
end of WWII she was sent to Austria with
her two young cousins to fl ee the Russian forces. Aft er making
her way back to Berlin and reuniting with her mother they both
worked to support themselves in the war torn city. June 29, 1946
she met a soldier, Charles Tuttle, and they married two years
later in Berlin on August 10, 1948. She had not wanted to marry
a dairy farmer or a minister and Charles became both. Th eir
children were born in Washington and northern California
and, except for a brief period, she lived the last 46 years in or
close to Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Ursula found great happiness and joy in being a minister’s
wife working alongside her husband. She loved playing games
with family and friends, watching game shows, taking daytrips
and cheering the San Francisco Giants on to three world
championships. She enjoyed nature always keeping a fl ower
garden which attracted hummingbirds and wildlife. She was a
partner in the Bohemia Video store in Cottage Grove. In later
years she looked forward to her monthly German get togethers
and cancer support group meetings. She was a competitive
Scrabble player up to the last weeks of her life. And she won!
Mainly living a life as a godly example, she as a classic mother
and as God’s steward, whether enduring hardness or simple
teasing, consistently demonstrated the presence of God’s love.
She loved gathering with others to worship. Her children are
proud to call her Mom and now miss her greatly.
She is survived by fi ve children, Clay Tuttle (Chick),
Clyde Tuttle, Christine Groat (Ken), Corinne Rock and Coni
Woody, 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren,
including three sets of twins. Ursula was preceded in death by a
granddaughter Cammie Marie, her son Cole and her husband
Charles. A memorial service will be held at Resurrection Life,
(6 th and Fillmore) on Wednesday, June 29 at 5:30 pm. Food will
be served. In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to RLC for
the Headstone Fund for Ursula and Charles.
