1948-2016
Carroll S. Sorensen, 67, of
Albany, Oregon died on April
15, 2016.
She was
born in Cot-
tage Grove
to Warren
Merrit and
Jean Ma-
rie (Bash)
Bolton on
June 18, 1948.
On Nov. 12, 1988 in Charles-
ton, Oregon, she and Carl J. So-
rensen III were married.
She was a chef in the restau-
rant industry for more than 25
years.
Carroll loved reading, garden-
ing and sitting in the rain. She
was always right…even when
she was wrong, she was right.
She volunteered through Glean-
ers, a food sharing and distribu-
tion organization.
Survivors
include
her
three daughters:
Sandra
McCardy, Michelle Raymond
and Valerie Wolfe, a son, Brian
Raymond, three stepdaughters:
Chelle Byrd, Cyndi Sorensen-
Brookins and Cathy Sorensen,
a stepson, Shawn Sorensen,
a sister, Colleen Baxter, three
brothers, Robert Bolton, Phil-
lip Bolton and Michael Bolton,
16 grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Carl J. Sorensen III
on Feb. 26, 2007, and two sons,
Ronald and Gary Raymond.
A memorial service will be
held at 1 p.m. on Saturday,
April 30, 2016 at the Church
of Christ on 6th and Gibbs in
Cottage Grove. Contributions

Regina Gail Field, 53 of Che-
mult, Oregon formerly of Cot-
tage Grove, passed away April
20, 2016.
She was
born Aug.

1962,
in Oliver
Springs,
Tenn.

Herman
and
Rita
(Patterson) Wheeler.
Regina attended medical
school. She was a cook at res-
taurants who worked her way
up to management; she was the
assistant manager for Subway at
the Pilot Truck Stop.

enjoy a spot of tea at the Grand-
parents Tea at Applegate Ele-
mentary this Thursday, April 28.
The event starts at 1 p.m. with
a talent show. Themed bas-
kets from each classroom will
be auctioned at the tea. Funds
raised from the auction will go
toward the year end fi eld trips
and fi eld day.
Lorane Grange meets on
Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The men will be serving the
women in honor of Mother’s
Day.
As the school year nears the
end, it’s once again time for
Kindergarten Round-up on
Thursday, May 12 at 3:15 p.m.

dren turning fi ve years old prior
to Sept. 1, 2016, are eligible for
the 2016-17 school year. Apple-
gate offers a full-day program,
fi ve days a week. Guests can
meet their teacher, see the class-

and copy of their birth certifi -

Drama Club has two perfor-
mances soon. “Nightmare High
painting, camping, fi shing, tak-
ing long drives, watching wild-
life, playing card games and
gardening. She loved animals
of any kind.
On Jan. 4, 1991 in Cottage
Grove, she and Elmer Field
were married.
Survivors include her hus-
band, Elmer Field, of Chemult;
mother Rita Cline; three sis-
ters, Darlene Wheeler of New-
port, Joan Swain and husband
Neal of Cottage Grove and Te-
resa Reeves of Springfi eld; two
brothers, Ralph and Tim Wheel-
er of Virginia; stepbrother Rob-
ert Cline of Crescent; two step-
sisters, Vickie Stevens of LaPine
and Barbara of Virginia, and nu-
merous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at
1 p.m. on Thursday, April 28,
2016 at the Victory Country
Church, 913 S. 6th St., in Cot-
tage Grove. Arrangements in

Janice LeAnn Kimbro, 40,
passed away Friday, April 15,
2016 at Frances Marion Manor,
in Marion, Virginia. She was
formerly from Cottage Grove.

Vets group aids Family Relief Nursery
T
he Family Relief Nursery
announces that it has re-
ceived a $1902 donation from
La Societe des Quarante Hom-
mes et Huit Chevaux, or the
“Forty & Eight.” Forty & Eight
operates a Legacy of Charity,
with nine primary charitable
programs. Since 1923, one of
the nine charities has been child
welfare.
Family Relief Nursery said
it is using the donated funds to
support therapeutic classrooms
for children from six weeks to
six years old. These classes are
located in both Cottage Grove
the Village Green Resort & Gar-
dens in Cottage Grove. Since the
Cheminot, the fraternal mem-
bers have been building ties to
the Cottage Grove community,
and when a local veteran and
his wife challenged the mem-
bers of Oregon’s Forty & Eight
to “match his donation of $500,
they rose to the occasion.
The 40&8 held its quarterly gathering in Cottage Grove,
later donating to support therapeutic classrooms.
