On Feb. 19, 2016, long-time
resident of Cottage Grove, Linda
Joyce (Rikala) Rook, 67, went
home to be with The Lord.
Linda
was born
on Jan. 10,
1949
in
Deer Park,
Minn.
to
Elmer and
Eleanor
(Zustiak)
Rikala.
On May 27, 1966 in Cottage
Grove, she and James Rook
were married.
Linda was a dedicated wife,
mother, grandmother and sis-
ter. Linda was an accomplished
quilter and enjoyed crocheting.
She loved making quilts for her
family. Her quilts are a lasting
memory of her talent and love.
She is survived by her hus-
band, James Rook, son, Troy
Rook, daughter, Dena Stock-
dale, three sisters, Nancy Horn-
er, Cindy Massey, and Patsy
Schallock, brother Ronald Ri-
kala, fi ve grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, and nu-
merous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her eldest son, James Alan
Rook.
A celebration of life will be
scheduled for later this spring.

Squires
1961-2016
Danny Eugene Squires, 54, of
Portland, Ore. passed away Feb.
28, 2016.
He was born June 20, 1961
in Vancou-
ver, Wash.
to Arthur
and Marie
(Borger)
Squires.
They both
preceded
him
in
death.
He worked as a mechanic/ser-
vice manager for Carr Subaru in
Beaverton, Ore. He was award-
ed “Number 1 Rated Subaru
Mechanic in the USA”.
He loved sharing his interests,
knowledge and love of experi-
ments and building things with
his children. He also enjoyed
cars, motorcycles, baking and
watching movies with family.
Survivors include four chil-
dren, Avery Squires, Grace
Squires and Jacob Squires, all
of Portland, Ore., and Heather
Squires of Austin, Texas, and
three siblings, Ann Younger
of Vancouver, Wash., Davey
Squires of Cottage Grove, and
Stephanie Rabeh of Springfi eld,
Ore.
A Celebration of Life will
be held April 1 from 11 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. at the Water Resource
Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way,
Vancouver, Wash. Arrangements
under the care of Crown Memo-
rial Center, Portland.

1952-2016
Joyce Lynne Green was born
Dec. 18, 1952 in Kansas City,
Kansas to William S. Green and
Marillea Rogers of Modesto,
Calif.

to Oregon
she became
involved
with
the
‘Bohemia
Miners As-
sociation’
of Cottage Grove. Taking time
to be sure to collect and donate
to 'Pay it Forward' and doing
other community Services in
Town.

and 'Saturday Market'. She was
also employed at the Jefferson
Street Apartments.
On Jan. 24, 2016, Joyce
passed from complications due
to a recent surgery. She is pre-
ceded in death by son George
Knolls Jr. and husband Dustin
"Dusty" Pelkey.
She leaves behind her sister
Paula Ann Talbot of Cottage
Grove, brother Gary S. Green
of Edwardsville, Kansas and
many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and
Nephews.
A Remembrance Gathering
will be held at Silk Creek Park
on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at
1 p.m., and guests are invited to
come and join her family in say-
ing goodbye. In lieu of fl owers,
donations can be made to 'Pay
it Forward of Cottage Grove',
Oregon.

David A. Krumlauf
1937-2016
David A. Krumlauf, 78 of
Cottage Grove passed away
from complications related to
cancer on March 9, 2016.
He was
born
on
May
6,
1937
in
Portland,
Ore. to Da-
vid E. and
Blanche
(Boyd)
Krumlauf.
David joined the United States
Marine Corps in 1955 and was
on active duty until 1959. He
was stationed in both Okinawa
and mainland Japan. While in
the Marines, David received his
GED and then after completing
military service, he attended
Lane Community College.
David worked as a log scaler
in the timber industry retiring
from Weyerhaeuser after 39
years.
He married Jeraldine Hughes
in 1960 and later divorced. He
then married Elizabeth “Betty”
Bohach on Sept. 4, 1971 in Eu-
gene, Ore.
David enjoyed astronomy,
playing the guitar, hunting,
fi shing and anything mechani-
cal. He liked woodworking and
just tinkering, fi xing things for
anyone. He had a black belt
in Karate. He was a member
of the Our Lady of Perpetual
Help (OLPH) Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus and the
Eugene Astronomical Society.
He is survived by his loving
wife, Betty Krumlauf of Cot-
tage Grove; daughters, Kim-
berly Krumlauf of Anchorage,
Alaska; Kristina Cates of Port-
land, Ore.; Sheri Henry of Cot-
tage Grove; Leanne Simons
and husband Donny of Cottage
Grove; Sherry Vogel and hus-
band Robert of Dublin, Geor-
gia; son, David W. Krumlauf of
Eugene, Ore.; 12 grandchildren
and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19,
