Timothy J. Lyons
1953-2016
Timothy J. Lyons, 62 of Rose-
burg passed away Jan. 5, 2016.
He was born July 14, 1953 in
Arcata, Calif. to Jack S. and Lu-
cile J. (Jessen) Lyons.
He graduated from Rose-
burg High
School and
attended
Umpqua
Commu-
nity Col-
lege, where
he received
his CDL
certifi cation. He was a truck
driver for A&M Trucking for
14 years in Glendale, Ore.,
was a security guard at a local
Umpqua Mill, and was an ac-
complished welder.
Tim was an artist, enjoyed
drawing, painting, oils, and
wood carving. He loved ani-
mals, and his passion was “The
Rose,” his 2003 Harley Road
King. He was a devoted brother
and father, who loved his fam-
ily.
He is survived by his daugh-
ter, Amanda Lyons, of Win-
ston, Ore.; sister, Karen (Bob)
Swayze of Cottage Grove; one
niece, one nephew, one grand-
nephew, two grandnieces; nu-
merous cousins and his beloved
grand-dog, Chewie.
A memorial will be held at 1
p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016
at Trinity Lutheran Church, 675
S. 7th St., in Cottage Grove.

Roland Malson
1932-2016
Roland “Gene” Malson, 84,
of Cottage Grove passed away
Feb. 6, 2016.
He was born Jan. 8, 1932 in
Rockyford, Alberta, Canada
to Hiram

and Roxie
Pearl (An-
derson)
Malson.

e
served in
the
US
Army dur-
ing the Korean War.
On May 21, 1967 in Win-
terhaven, Calif., he and Mary
Sandford were married.
He was a farmer, truck driv-
er and drove a loader. He also
worked at Cottage Grove Com-
munity Sharing in the garden
and food pantry.
Gene enjoyed fi shing, bowl-
ing, gardening and sharing a
drink with his buddies. He
liked mechanics and was al-
ways working on a car. He was
a member of the Moose Lodge,
VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife,
Mary Malson of Creswell;
daughters Roxie Kim Barton
and Susan Markham of Bakers-
fi eld, Calif.; son Roland Malson
of Ontario, Calif.; daughter, Tina
Conner of Rancho Cucamonga,
Calif.; daughter Tammy Malson
of Palm Springs Calif.; daugh-
ter Penny Malson of Redding,
Calif.; son and daughter-in-law
Robert and Carrie Malson of
Moreno Valley, Calif.; daughter
and son-in-law Kathy and Curtis
Tatom of Creswell; brother Ce-
cil Malson of Montana; brother

20 grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.

Louie Mulvaney
1932-2016
Louie Mulvaney, 83, of
Drain, Oregon passed away Feb.
6, 2016. He was born July 25,
1932 in Sandy, Oregon.
He was
a
Navy
veteran of
the Korean
War.
Survivors
include his
wife, Cyn-
thia Mul-
vaney, two
sons, Gary Mulvaney and Larry
Mulvaney, two daughters, Sha-
ron Lohman and Carol Ford,
and two sisters, Vera Crisp and
Juanita Lester.

James Lawrence
1937-2015
James “Jim” Lawrence, 78, of
Culp Creek, died Dec. 10, 2015
of COPD.
He was born Aug. 17, 1937
in South-
gate, Calif.
to Norman
and
Sara
(Osborne)
Lawrence.
He
at-
tended Or-
ange High
School and
the University of Idaho.
In 1989 in Moreno Valley,
Calif., he and Jean Taylor were
married.
Jim had a career as a heavy
equipment operator, welder,
carpenter, realtor and mort-
gage broker. He retired from
his union, Operating Engineers,
Local 12.
Jim was a dedicated volun-
teer in the Cottage Grove school
system. He was a S.M.A.R.T.
reader, a lunch buddy, mentor
and friend to all. He was com-
mitted to serving his community
in any way he was needed. His
great love was his time with the
children of Cottage Grove.
Survivors include wife, Jean
Taylor Lawrence, three daugh-
ters: Beth Campbell, Jennifer
Smith of Riverside, Calif., and
Wendie Lee Rainbow of Eugene
Ore., a son, James Lawrence of
Riverside, Calif., eight stepchil-
dren and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by a stepdaughter, Elsie “Puff”
Kissell.
A Celebration of Life fol-
lowed by a potluck will be held
on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.
at Dorena Grange. Guests are
asked to bring a dish.

Ron Robinson, Jr., 71, of Cot-
tage Grove passed away on Feb.
4, 2016.
He was born in Fremont, Ohio

25, 1967 in
Reno, Nev.,
he
and
Georgia Hall were married.
Ron worked for IBM and oth-
er electronic companies in man-
agement, retiring in 2000.
He enjoyed bowling, was an
avid golfer, Sprint car-racing
spectator and enjoyed hot rods.
He was also a classic car enthu-
siast. He served as a volunteer
with the American Cancer So-
ciety in their Discovery Shop,
and also with the VA at the golf
course in White City, Ore.
Survivors include two sons,
Thomas (AnJee) Neeley of
Cottage Grove and Rick (De-
nise) Neeley of Cottage Grove,
a daughter, Teresa (David)
O’Brien of Kenosha, Wis., two
sisters, Carol Melendy of LeB-
lanc, La. and Jackie Woods of
Taylor, Texas, a brother, Rich-
ard (Cathy) Robinson of Brent-
wood, Calif., 10 grandchildren,
six great-grandsons, and 12
nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be
at the Cottage Bowl, 740 Row
River Road, in Cottage Grove
on Monday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m.

Stanley Puls
1925-2016
Stanley Puls, 90, of Medford,
Oregon passed away Jan. 26,
2016.
He was
born Aug.
3,
1925
in

Butte, Or-
egon, south
of Cottage
Grove, to
Carl
and
Violet (Fry)
Puls.
He graduated from Crow
High School in 1943.
On Nov. 4, 1943, he married
Emmalee Carder and shortly
thereafter joined the Army. Dur-
ing World War II Stan was sta-
tioned in New Guinea, the Phil-
ippines, and Occupied Japan.
He was awarded the Bronze
Star, two Purple Hearts, along
with two medals for good con-
duct and several metals for his
shooting expertise.
Upon his return from the war,
he and Emmalee settled in the
Crow area. During this time Stan
worked in the lumber industry
as a cat skinner and later owned
and operated a dump truck. In
1960 the family moved to Eu-
gene. Several years later he and
Emmalee divorced.
Stan worked in manufacturing
as a mill superintendent for Wil-
lamette Valley Manufacturing
in Eugene, and opened a mill
operation in Golden, B.C. for
the company. Upon his return
to Oregon he owned and oper-
ated Northwest Molding Inc. in
Lebanon. Stan had an inventive
mind and he was able to visu-
alize a piece of equipment that
would streamline a process and
have it built. He was married to
Darlene Darby during this time.
They later divorced.
He loved to travel and explore
new places. He collected art,
was a photographer, and an ex-
cellent cook. He was a founding
member of the Unity Church in
Eugene.
Stan married Harriet Kos-
matka in 1996, and they had just
celebrated their 20th wedding
anniversary.
He was preceded in death by
two sons, George Puls and Chris
Puls.
Stan is survived by his wife,
Harriet of Medford, a sister, Ev-
elyn Akins of Eugene and Mex-
ico, his former wife, Emmalee
Williams of Cottage Grove, and
three daughters, Cheryl Puls of
Portland, and Vicki Schoenle-
ber and Teresa Cowan, both of
Cottage Grove, 11 grandchil-
dren, nine great-grandchildren,
two great-great grandchildren,
his adopted son, Dana Puls, his
stepchildren, Arne(Linda) Kos-
matka of Redlands, Calif., and
Dan (Diane) and Victor (Sue)
Kosmatka and Patricia Scupien
(Mike), all in the Medford area,
and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Stan’s wish was to be laid to
rest at the Eagle Point National
Cemetery. A celebration of his
life will be held at the Cottage
Grove VFW Hall, 3160 Hillside
Rd. on Saturday, March 5 at 3
p.m. Arrangements under the
care of Perl Funeral Home.
Norman Dick Mills of Cottage
Grove passed away on Jan. 7, 2016.
He was born in Hugoton, Kansas on
March 1, 1937 and moved to Oregon
at a young age. He proudly served his
country in the U.S. Air Force in Ja-
pan and Korea. Dick married the love
of his life, Shirley Wells, on Apr. 7,
1962. He worked for Weyerhaeuser
for many years, retiring in 1999. He
enjoyed hunting, fi shing, reading and especially spending time
with his grandchildren. Dick was a wonderful, caring man who
will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a large
and loving family including his wife Shirley, six sisters- Bonnie
Boone, Donnieta Shupert, Maryjo Jeans, Rosanna Martin, Car-
ol Crabbe and Jeannie Sieferman; one brother, Gary Mills; chil-
dren Sherry (Steve) Yoss, Jerri Ann Wells, Shelly Mills Corbit,
and Greg (Mandy) Mills; grandchil-
dren Katie Wells, Ryan (Jenni) Yoss,
Tawny (Joe) Lowrey, Kodie Mills,
Nick Teige , Janae Wells Teige, Na-
tasha Corbit (John Campbell) Zach
Corbit, Britttany Corbit (William
Chamy); and 9 great grandchildren.
He is preceeded in death by brothers
John, Terry and Jack Mills. A cel-
ebration of life will be held on Feb.
20th at 1 p.m. at the Quality Inn Con-
ference Room in Cottage Grove.

Floyd D. Percell, 81, of
Pierce County, Nebr., formerly
of Cottage Grove, passed away
Jan. 31, 2016 from Alzheimer’s
Disease.
He was born Sept. 11,
1934. Floyd had attained his
GED, served in the Navy and
worked as a forklit driver
for Weyerhaeuser. He loved
i shing, hunting, antiquing and
spending time with family and friends.
Nancy L. Percell, 79, of Cottage Grove passed away Oct. 20, 2015
from cardiopulmonary arrest.
She was born Oct. 30, 1936. She graduated from high school
and worked as a legal secretary. She enjoyed antiquing, reading and
spending time with family and friends.
Floyd and Nancy were married for 60 years. Both were members
of First Baptist Church in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include a son, Duane A. Percell of Roscommon, Mich.,
a daughter, Julie K. McDonald of Cottage Grove, four grandchildren,
Jason M. Simmons of Creswell, Kayla J. Simmons of Cottage Grove,
Kyle R. Percell of Eugene and Lacey F. Percell of Florence, i ve great-
grandchildren, Breydon J. Simmons, Kasey M. Simmons, Shawn R.
McDaniel, Ryan J. Simmons and Mason L. McDaniel.
Floyd also has two surviving brothers, Richard Percell of Florida
and Raymond Percell of Eugene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 301 S.
6th St., in Cottage Grove on Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow the
service.
