Chambers fi nished in fi fth
place for the boys’ 100-yard
back stroke in 1:02.65, while
Ethan Burleson fi nished 10th in
the 100-yard freestyle race with
a time of 57.01.
One of Rose Witt’s best per-
formances was in the 500-yard
freestyle race, where she placed
eighth with
a time of 6:21.12. Clover Ru-
dicel, the fi nal qualifi er for the
girls, fi nished 10th in the 100-
yard breaststroke race with
1:24.51.
The one event that Cottage
Grove took fi rst place in was
the 200-yard individual medley
swam by Johnny Witt. Witt, a
freshman, took fi rst place out
of 12 racers in the fi nals and
was one of only two freshman
and four underclassmen in the
race. He fi nished with a time
of 2:09.21. Witt also claimed
second place in the 500-yard
freestyle race with a time of
5:11.48.
“I was really happy we won
that race,” Pilling said of the
200-yard individual medley.
