Lori Renee Florez, 42, of Cot-
tage Grove passed away Nov. 8,
2015 of cancer.
She was
born April
18, 1973,
in
Oak
Park,
Ill.
to Harold
and Audrey
(Fry) Behr.
Lori gradu-
ated from
Warwick High School in Penn-
sylvania, attended Millersville
University in Pennsylvania and
then received her Bachelor of
Arts from the University of Or-
egon and her Masters degree
from Western Oregon Universi-
ty. Lori volunteered at Latham
Elementary School from 2003-
2006 and was a librarian and
language arts teacher from 2007-
2015 at Cottage Grove High
School. She loved her kids and
family, was an avid book reader,
loved walking, working in the
yard with fl owers, recommend-
ing books, taking care of people
and buying them gifts.
Lori married Ricardo Flo-
rez on Aug. 24, 2008. Lori is
survived by her spouse, Ricar-
do Florez, of Cottage Grove,
daughter Megan Schneider,
son Benny Schneider, stepson
Xavier Florez and stepdaugh-
ter Rhea Florez, all of Cottage
Grove; parents Harold and Au-
drey Behr, in-laws Charlotte

1928-2015
James “Jim” Henry Humphrey
of Dorena passed away on Nov.
11, 2015 at the age of 87. Jim
was born in Wallen, Tenn. to Jo-
seph Henry
Humphrey
and
Re-
becca Tef-
fetaller. He
attended
Cottage
Grove High
School and
then went
into the United States Army. Jim
married Betty June (Simons) on
July 28, 1949 in Cottage Grove;
they later divorced, and he then
remarried.
He worked as a boatman
on the ponds for Booth Kelly
Lumber Company and then for
Weyerhaeuser, where he retired.

ing permits are now available
for online purchase at www.
oregonstateparks.org. On the
website, visitors can follow the
'Shop' link to buy the 24-month
ATV permit and 12- or 24-
month day-use parking permit
from the Park Store.
"We're expanding our online
services in response to visitor
comments and requests," said
Lisa Sumption, director of the
Oregon Parks and Recreation
Department. "In the coming
months, we'll offer additional
items in our Park Store that we
believe will appeal to our park
visitors."
The 12-month parking permit is
$30, and the 24-month parking
permit is $50. Both are honored
at all 26 Oregon State Parks
that charge a day-use parking
fee. The $10 ATV permit must
be displayed on ATVs operated
on public lands designed for
ATV use.
Park Store purchases can be
made using a VISA or Master-
Card. The permanent permits
and day-use permit hangtags
are delivered via U.S. mail
at no cost to the customer.
Customers should print the
temporary permit attached to
the Park Store e-mail receipt so
they can visit a park or ride an
ATV that day.

phrey of Pleasant Hill, Ore.;

Ore. and 11 grandchildren, 19
great-grandchildren and two
great-great grandchildren. Jim
was preceded in death by his fa-
ther, Joseph Henry Humphrey,
mother Rebecca Goddard and
stepfather Thomas Goddard. A
memorial service will be held at
a later date. Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.

1930-2015
Vivian Mae Ellis, 85, of Cot-
tage Grove passed away on Nov.
4, 2015.
She was born on Sept. 13,
1930
in

She re-
tired from
and worked as a quality control
supervisor for Willamette Poul-
try for more than 30 years.

She loved people and her para-
keet. She was an active mem-
ber and deacon of the Creswell
Presbyterian Church.
Vivian married Max G. El-
lis on June 16, 1949 in Eugene,
Ore. He preceded her in death
on April 6, 2006.
She is survived by two daugh-
ters, Norma McAllister of Cot-
tage Grove and Christie Gibson
(Gary) of Deer Park, Wash.;
two sons, Dennis Ellis (Ronda
Manker) of Creswell and Rob-
ert Ellis (Sharon) of Creswell;
two sisters, Delores Bauck of
Portland, Ore. and Gwendolyn
Crosby of Coos Bay, Ore., 11
grandchildren, 18 great-grand-
children and one great-great
grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will
be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday,
Nov. 28, 2015 at the Creswell
Presbyterian Church, 75 S. 4th
St. in Creswell. Arrangements
under the care of Smith-Lund-

Earl Sheridan Petty was born June 29, 1921 to Mamie and
Riley Petty in Goshen Oregon, and died November 6, 2015 in
Springfi eld, Oregon, of natural causes. Earl was married to Hilda
Mae DeBerry Petty for more than 60 years. Hilda preceded him in
death in 2006. Earl served in the Army during WW II. He worked
for Georgia Pacifi c and Lane County as a heavy equipment
operator, and farmed most of his life raising beef, hay, cherries and
berries. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners Club,
Eastern Star, Grange and Creswell Presbyterian Church. Earl is
survived by his four children; Stephen, John, Merline (Smith)
of Oregon and, Frank of Colorado. He has 7 grandchildren and
numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother,
Joseph of Washington State. A Celebration of Life will be held
November 30th at 2 pm at Creswell Presbyterian Church 75 S 4th
Street Creswell, Oregon.

Lindsey Haskell
1954-2015
Lindsey Haskell, 61 of
Cottage Grove, OR passed
away on November 8, 2015.
He was born March 14, 1954
in Portland, OR to George
and Eline Patricia (Lemley)
Haskell. Lindsey graduated
from Benson Poly Tech in
Portland, OR in 1972. He was a sewing machine sales and service
technician for Homemaker’s Supply in Portland and moved to
Cottage Grove in 1985 where he was the owner and operator of
Cottage Grove Vacuum and Sewing Center for 30 years. Lindsey
enjoyed fi shing, hunting, camping, traveling, rebuilding hotrods,
and spending time with family and friends. He married Ruby M.
Cox on January 29, 1994 in Reno, NV. They have been together
for 33 years. Lindsey was a Cottage Grove City Councilor, Budget
Committee Member, City Council Representative to Fire and
Ambulance Advisory Council, Honorary Member of CG Historical
Society and sat on the boards for Cottage Grove City Charter
Revision Committee, Planning Commission, Policy Committee of
Lane County Regional Housing, National Hazard Mitigation Plan
Advisory Committee, Development Code Advisory Committee,
Transportation System Plan Advisory Committee, and a city council
representative on the CG Community Foundation Board. Lindsey
was instrumental in the development of the South Lane Family
Relief Nursery, a past board member and became a member of the
Relief Nursery’s Board of Stewards in 2014. He was also a member
of the South Lane Cruisers, Willamette Valley Bass Trackers,
Willamette Classic F-100 Club, Coast Fork Watershed Council and
an executive member of the Scotty MacGuffi n Single Malt Scotch
Club. He received the January 2015 Chamber of Commerce
President’s Award for Community Excellence and the Woodson
Park was changed to Haskell Park in recognition for his many years
of dedicated volunteer service to the community of Cottage Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Haskell, Cottage Grove, OR;
son, Jason Haskell and wife Angela, Trail, OR; daughter, Georgia
Haskell and partner Mike Goings, Cottage Grove, OR; mother, Pat
Haskell, Beaverton, OR; and sister, Linda Haskell, Beaverton, OR;
5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 nephews and several great
nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to South
Lane Family Relief Nursery, 720 N 14th St, Cottage Grove, OR
97424 or Cascade Hospice, 2650 Suzanne Way, Suite 200, Eugene,
OR 97408. No service is planned at this time, a Celebration of
