to help a south Lane County nonprofi t. Grant applications are available with a deadline of Jan. 15.

research and support nonprof-

'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' opens Dec. 4
Cottage Theatre concludes
its 2015 season with a family-
friendly production of the clas-
sic “Narnia” tale by C.S. Lewis,
“The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe.” The theater will
present a stage adaptation by
playwright Joseph Robinette.
The original Lewis book, the
second and most famous in the
seven-volume “Narnia” series,
has been in continuous publica-
tion since 1956, and translated
into more than 40 languages.
Cottage Theatre’s production
opens a three-weekend run start-
ing on Friday, Dec. 4.
This magical dramatization of
the C.S. Lewis classic faithfully
recreates the adventures of four
children who wander, quite by
accident, from an old wardrobe
into the exciting and unusual
land of Narnia.
Filled with action, poignancy
and intrigue, the adventure un-
folds as the evil White Witch
tries to keep Narnia in an end-
less icy winter and to end the
reign of Aslan, the Lion.
Amidst battles and struggles,
Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy
discover the truth of the “proph-
esy” that only they can fulfi ll.
This story of love, faith, cour-
age and redemption, with its tri-
umph of good over evil, is a true
celebration of life.
Cottage Theatre’s production
of “The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe” is directed by Kory
Weimer. Set design is by Janet
Whitlow, lighting design by
Amanda Ferguson and costume
design by Marjorie Steen and
Chris Carter.
The production features Janet
Whitlow as the White Witch,
Randall Brous as Aslan the lion,
Jacksen Lund as Edmund, John
Parker as Peter, Megan Sch-
neider as Susan and Kenady
Conforth as Lucy.
They are supported by a large
cast that includes creatures of
all sorts, such as wolves, fox-
es, beavers, falcons, spectors,
a centaur and a unicorn. Even
Father Christmas makes an ap-
pearance!
“The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe” runs for 11 perfor-
mances at Cottage Theatre from
Dec. 4 through 20. Performanc-
es are Thursday, Friday and
Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and
