COMMISSION VACANCIES
here are fun-fi lled events
planned for this weekend
in Lorane and Crow.
First,
Lorane Grange will host its
delicious spaghetti dinner and
bingo night on Friday evening,
Oct. 23.
Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.,
and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m.
The blackout hasn’t been won
yet and continues to grow.
Also, the 50/50 raffl e is still a
crowd-pleaser.
Then, there’s the third annual
Sportsman Auction on Saturday
evening, Oct. 24, in the Crow
High School gym. This event is
sponsored by the Booster Club
as one of two major fundraisers
to help all the district students.
A silent auction begins at 5
p.m., then a barbecue dinner at
6 p.m. and the live auction at 7
p.m. All the elementary classes
have made projects, while the
middle and high school students
have prepared themed baskets
for the auction. All monies
raised by the students’ projects
and baskets go directly to the
classes involved. The dinner is
$16 and may be pre-ordered by

The next half-day art with
the Rural Arts Council will be
Nov. 4 in the art room at Apple-
gate Elementary. Portland art-
ist Jani Hoberg will be sharing

Cottage Theatre will hold
auditions for The 25th Annual
Putnam County Spelling Bee on
Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at 700
Village Drive in Cottage Grove.
Callbacks and movement audi-
tions will take place at 4 p.m.
the same afternoon.
A cast of three adults and six
young adults who can sing and
dance is needed for this produc-
tion directed by Mark VanBeev-
er. The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee will run
for 11 performances from Jan.
29-Feb. 14, 2016.
These auditions are open to
any interested actors, and no
appointment is necessary. Ac-
tors are asked to prepare 16-32
bars of a Broadway-style song
and bring sheet music for the
accompanist.
