Sports/Community News
Reporter
The Cottage Grove Sentinel is seeking a talented
reporter/photographer for a position opening soon
in its sports/community news department.
The Sentinel, an award-winning weekly
newspaper and the voice of Oregon’s South
Willamette Valley for over a century, seeks the
contributions of a journalist with a passion for
community sports and events coverage. The ideal
candidate will be as comfortable on the sidelines
as at a City Council meeting and will excel at
contributing high-quality stories, photographs
and layout for digital as well as traditional news
formats. There’s always something happening in
Cottage Grove, a quintessential timber town with
access to many of Oregon’s natural wonders, and
we’re looking for a reporter who’s ready to be
where the action is.
A four-year degree in journalism or a related
fi eld is preferred, but consideration will also be
given to applicants with signifi cant experience
in a newsroom setting, particularly with a sports
background. Necessary abilities include excellent
writing and photography skills, professionalism
and a talent for cultivating productive contacts
across a wide variety of disciplines, from
coaches, athletes and administrators to business
and government leaders and public relations
representatives. Experience with software such
as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is also ideal.
Those interested in applying for the position may
send a cover letter, resume and no more than fi ve
clips to the Sentinel at cgnews@cgsentinel.com
or by mail: 116 N. 6 th St., Cottage Grove, OR
97424. Applications should be submitted no
later than Monday, July 27 by 5 p.m.

week. You worked hard, and now is a great
time for you to rest, relax and catch up with

have more energy and inspiration. This is
just a temporary setback.

Your life can’t always be a bundle of
excitement, Scorpio. Sometimes you have to
sit back and enjoy those periods that are not
so on-the-go. Relish in the slower pace.
