No. 51 met with area youths and
their families Saturday morning
to culminate the Lodge's Bikes
for Books program. In all, 13
kids from fi ve area schools re-
ceived a bike from a drawing
they were able to enter after
reading 13 grade-level appro-
priate books in 13 weeks. Each
winner got the chance to pick
out their own bike and helmet
at Walmart on Saturday. The
Lodge's Rob Farquhar said that
Bohemia Elementary had the
best turnout of participants this
year, though the other schools
also furnished a lot of partici-
pants.

CITY BEAT Excerpts from the City of Cottage Grove's Friday Update
Walk your wheels
Early Friday morning, a team
of Cottage Grove youth wan-
dered up and down Main Street
painting reminders for cyclists,
skateboarders and all other rec-
reational wheeled vehicle riders
to not ride on the sidewalks.
Members of the Cottage Grove
Youth Advisory Council woke
up early the fi rst day of summer
break and spent it painting the
reminders on the sidewalks.
The YAC felt the phrase “Walk
your Wheels” clearly describes
the need for everyone to use
caution on the downtown side-
walks and the need to “Walk
your Wheels” downtown.
