Creswell woman,
44, wins $25,000
in instant lottery
When Bonnie Graves of Cre-
swell bought her lottery ticket
with returnable bottle money on
April 29, she tucked them deep
into her purse that day and for-
got about them.
Remembering the tickets
around midnight, Graves, 44,
dug them out of her purse and
scratched off the silver stuff.
The Creswell woman struck
gold.
“When I saw that I won
$25,000, I had to put my glassed
on and read the directions
again,” Graves said.
Graves uncovered three O’s in
a row to become the fi rst top in-
stant prize winner in the Oregon
lottery game.
Earlier in the day, she came
home from work, cleaned the
garage, and exchanged bottles
for “Win-For-Life” Scratch-it
game tickets.
The winning ticket was pur-
chased at Aday’s market, 822
W. Main St. in Cottage Grove.
Graves waited to tell anyone
her news. She wanted to share it
with her husband fi rst, who was
out of town at the time. After
picking him up at the airport on
Sunday, they were with friends
in the car so she waited to tell
him when they were home alone
that evening.
When she went down to the
lottery offi ce in Salem, she was
given a check for $25,000.
“I didn't think they had those
big winners out there,” Graves
said.
She said she has plans to use
the money as a down payment
on a home in the Crewell area.
Graves has been playing Or-
egon Lottery since it began in
