Gilliam, Rhoades announce wedding
A
manda Ann Gilliam of Cottage
Grove and Robert Dale Rhoades of
Beaverton will be married June 13, 2015 at
6 p.m. at Horning's Hideout in North Plains,
Oregon.
Amanda's parents are David and Janet
Gilliam of Goldendale, Washington. The
groom's parents are Dale and Mayumi
Rhoades of Klamath Falls.
Amanda attended Goldendale High
School in Goldendale, Washington and
Central Washington University. She is em-
ployed at First Tech Federal Credit Union in
Beaverton. Robert attended Mazama High
School in Klamath Falls and Phoenix Insti-

tute of Technology in Phoenix, Arizona. He
is employed at Sleep Country USA/Mattress
Firm in Springfi eld.
Amanda's maids of honor will be Di-
ana (Gilliam) Jedlicka, Kim Hanel, Me-
lissa Coyle, Ashley McCormick and MiSun
Blanchard. The best men will be Robert's
sons, Ryan and Alan Rhoades. The groom's
attendants will be Alisha Rhoades, Tony
Seid and Demetrie Oakes. Ring bearers will
be Amanda's niece and nephew, Greta and
Graham Gilliam.
A reception will follow the wedding. The
couple plans to live in Cottage Grove.

1947-2015
Barbara Kay Boyer, 67, of
Reedsport, formerly of Cottage
Grove, passed away April 9,
2015.
She was born Nov. 28, 1947
in Stillwa-
ter, Minn.
to Michael
and Pris-
cilla (Bar-
rieau) Mi-
gas.
She grad-
uated from
Drain High School.
On Dec. 24, 1991, she and
Thomas Boyer were married.
He passed away in 2012.
Barbara owned and operated
First & Last Chance second-
hand store, owned and operated
TLC Adult Foster Care with her
husband, Tom, and conducted
estate sales until her illness.
She enjoyed camping, fi shing,
canning tuna, conducting estate
sales, car races, family gather-
ings and watching the Ducks
games. In earlier years, she
enjoyed music and singing in
small local bands. She knew no
strangers; the door was always
open, and she was always there
to lend a hand. Her home was
always over-the-top decorated
for all holidays and occasions.
Survivors include four daugh-
ters, Kendra Russell of Willami-
na, Ore., Tammy Cox (Doug) of
Cottage Grove, Brenda McDon-
ald (Greg) of Cottage Grove and
Wendy Cooper of Rio Dell, Ca-
lif., a son, William, three sisters,
Darlene Foster of Grants Pass,
Ore., Judy Crenshaw of Cottage
Grove and Debbie Chalmers of
Cottage Grove, 11 grandchil-
dren and six great-grandchil-
dren.
She was preceded in death
by her husband and a grandson,
Nathan Cooper.
A celebration of life will be
held Saturday, May 16, 2015
with place and time to be deter-
mined.

1922-2015
Evelyn Hart, 92, of Crest-
view, Fla., formerly of Cottage
Grove, passed away March 26,
2015
of
heart fail-
ure.
She was
born July
12, 1922 in
Fallbrook,
Calif. to
John and
Pearl (Mor-
ris) Lamb.
She received a Masters de-
gree in nursing from Columbia
University and served as a nurse
in the Korean Confl ict.
On Jan. 10, 1959 in Reno,
Nev., she and Lewis A. Hart
were married. He passed away
Nov. 7, 1968.
Evelyn worked as a nurse and
ran a home health agency and
hospice at Cottage Grove Hos-
pital. She developed Operation
Independence in conjunction
with the hospice program. She
was awarded Nurse of the Year
in 1973.
Survivors include her daugh-
ter, Luanne Fields of Crestview,
Fla., a son, John Hart of Eugene,
Ore and one grandson.
Her ashes will be scattered at
the Oregon coast at a later date.

Ruth Viola Stephenson, 94,
of Cottage Grove passed away
April 12, 2015 from age related
causes.
She was born July 27, 1920
in Arapahoe, Nebr. to Harry and
Velda Viola

She married Ward M. Ste-
phenson. He preceded her in
death.
Ruth was a homemaker and
home owner.
She enjoyed working cross-
word puzzles and reading, had
a keen interest in history and
politics, and enjoyed drives to
the Oregon coast.
Survivors include her daugh-
ter, Shirley Ellis and husband,
Ron, of Cottage Grove, fi ve
grandchildren, 11 great-grand-
children and four great-great
grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today,
April 22, at 2 p.m. at Riverside
Church of God. Private inter-
ment will be at Willamette Na-
tional Cemetery in Portland,
Oregon. Arrangements under
the care of Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7th St.,
Cottage Grove.
