Larry Neil Heater
June 5, 1940-Apr. 3, 2015
Larry Neil Heater, of Creswell,
passed away at home on April 3,
2015, of complications of Alzhei-
mer’s. He was 74.
He was born on June 5, 1940 in
Portland to Clyde and Jean (Brush)
Heater. He was the eldest of fi ve
children. The family lived in Sher-
wood, Ore. before moving to Creswell in 1950, when Larry was
in fi fth grade.
He graduated from Creswell High School in 1958, and married
his high school sweetheart, Karen Simmons, on June 7, 1959 in
Creswell. Their fi rst date was on Christmas Eve of their eighth-
grade year, and they had dated through high school.
The couple moved to their home on Hidden Valley Ranch, east
of Creswell, in November of 1959, where they raised their two
sons.
Larry began his longtime real estate career at Grove Realty in
Cottage Grove in the 1970s, working there for several years
before moving on to Countryman Realty in Eugene, where he
and Jerry Schwecke became partners and great friends. Larry
worked there for many years, earning back-to-back Salesman of
the Year awards in 1981 and 1982 for the highest volume of resi-
dential sales and listings sold. He then purchased H.N. Traxler’s
Realty in Creswell, where he worked as a real estate broker,
once earning Creswell Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the
Year Award. He retired in June 2010.
Larry enjoyed gardening, fi shing, spending time at his fami-
ly vacation home on Siltcoos Lake and traveling with Karen
around the U.S. and to Australia and Tasmania. But most of all,
he loved being at home with his family and his animals, spend-
ing time with his grandchildren and attending their activities and
events.
He was a longtime member of the Creswell Presbyterian
Church, where he had been an elder, and served on the Creswell
Cemetery Board.
Family and friends will remember him as friendly and funny,
frequently giving his children and grandchildren “knuckle
sandwiches” and playing other jokes. He was able to easily put
people at ease, had beautiful blue eyes that sparkled and was
loved by a lot of people.
Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Karen Heater of
Creswell; two sons: Ron Heater (and his wife, Kathy) and Jeff
Heater (and his wife, Sharon), all of Creswell; fi ve grandchil-
dren: Brandon, Elise, Nick, Gabe and Lauren; one brother, Don
Heater of Australia; and three sisters: Judy Schroeder of Baker
City, Ore., Mary Ellen Wadds of Australia and Bonnie Clugston
of Unity, Ore.
He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, neph-
ews and cousins, including cousin Jerry Lynn McDaniel, who
helped with care giving during Larry’s illness.
The family is also grateful to Cascade Hospice and caregiver
Lanae Craig.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April
19 at Creswell Presbyterian Church. A reception and potluck
will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. In lieu of fl owers,
memorial contributions may be made to Creswell Presbyterian
Church, 75 S. 4 th Street, Creswell, OR. 97426. Arrangements
entrusted to Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Services of
Springfi eld.

Cathleen Carlson
Lambert
1953-2015
Cathy (Cathleen) Carlson
Lambert passed away on April 6,
2015. She was born June 16, 1953
in Eureka, California to Norman
Carr and Maxine (Woody) Carr.
She lived in Eureka until age 15
when she moved to Cottage Grove,
Oregon. She married John Carlson
and had three sons: Brad, Chad and Chotu Carlson. Chad died at
age 2 1/2 years of age on April 6, 1977, 38 years to the day of his
mother’s death. Cathy’s heart never healed from the loss of Chad,
but they are together forever now.
Cathy was a professional photographer and a teacher of special
needs children in Roseburg, Oregon. She also loved being a partner,
mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all that knew her.
Cathy loved to brake for all garage sales, ride motorcycles and
travel. She was an excellent interior decorator, produced beautiful
stained glass and was a wonderful cook!
Cathy met Jerry Lambert nine years ago and they became soul
mates and loved each other very much. Cathy was tough and survived
a liver transplant and tried her very best to be happy and healthy. The
family would like to thank Jerry for all his love and support to Cathy
these last years. Cathy adored her children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. Her dogs always had a special place in her heart too.
Cathy was survived by her soul mate, Jerry Lambert, two
sons, Brad Carlson and wife, Debbie, and Chotu Carlson, two
sisters, Christine Woody and Jackie Saunderson, a brother, Norman

There will be a Celebration of Life for Cathy on Saturday, April
18, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge in Cottage Grove. It will be a
potluck and we ask you to bring your favorite dish and memories of
Cathy to share.
