The Cottage Grove speedway will be ready for action come April 4th and
this year will mark the fi fty-ninth season the facility has been in operation.
Every Saturday night from April to the fi rst weekend of October you can get
your racing fi x at CGS. Wednesday September 9th will see the return of the
World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series after a year hiatus. Several people regard
the historic 1/4-mile clay oval as one of their favorite race tracks to visit in-
cluding World of Outlaw announcer Johnny Gibson and NASCAR superstar
Kyle Larson..
Other big races to not miss are the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic
(May 29th and 30th), Western Sprint Tour Speedweek Finale (July 3rd and
4th), don’t forget fi reworks after the races on July 4th, Historical Night (Au-
gust 8th), and the Mark Howard Memorial Modifi ed Nationals (July 10th
and 11th). In total the Cottage Grove Speedway will host thirty-two events
on the 1/4-mile which is sure to produce heart-pounding and breath-taking
action in every single installment.
Regular classes featured include the 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifi eds, Clark
Printing Extreme Sprints, Late Models, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks,
and Quality RV Hornets. Touring organizations that venture to Cottage
Grove include the Western Sprint Tour, Northwest Wingless Tour, and the
Northwest Extreme Late Model Series. For the latest news and information

GROVE BUSINESSES
A new Electronic Smoking Device Ordinance is in eff ect as of March 26th 2015.
On February 23, 2015 the Cottage Grove City Council passed Ordinance No. 3052 which
adds Chapter 8.28 regarding electronic smoking devices to the City’s Municipal Code. Th e ordinance
regulates the sale, possession and use of electronic smoking devises. It also prohibits any smoking
or carrying a lighted smoking instrument within 25 feet of entrances, exits, windows that open, and
ventilation intakes that serve an enclosed area in public places or places of employment. (Th e previ-
ously established distance was only 10 feet.)
