BUMPER HAY CROP IS BEING CUT W EATHER OF PAST TWO WEEKS IDEAL FOR PURPOSE Continued Moisture Results in Large Yield but Prevents Cutting as Early as Desirable for Best Results. Almost every farmer haa l>een tak ing advantage o f the line weather of the past couple weeks to get hia hay ing done and a trip into the country la made pleasant with the aroma o f new mown grass. On almost every farm the haying crew can be seen hard at work, while the fancy o f the onlooker harka bark to Maude Muller, made famoua in verse. The yield o f hay this year la unusu ally heavy on account o f continued moisture, but in aome rases thia haa worked agamat the quality o f early hay by preventing cutting at the pay- cologiral moment. Grasses o f the clo ver fam ily are the main sufferers from the excessive rains. Taken all in all, however, the hay crop has proven an unusually heavy ami profitable one. Farmers who planted oats for hay report conditions as ideal, the dry weather coming on while the crop waa yet green. Hollis Slagle, 14-yaar-old son o f Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Slagle o f Red Bridge, was accidentally wounded with a pis tol Wednesday afternoon o f last week. The young lad had been out Ashing with some other boys and had a pistol in his belt. Lande*« waa the victim o f a peculiar accident when hia feet collided with some object beside the track, presumably a post o f aome kind. The accident occurred Friday while Mr.'Landesa was returning from Port land. He was lying down in the seat with his pedal extrem ities protruding from the open window and conversing with his daughters occupying the next aeat.
