Now that election and Thanks giving are past I suppose it is in order for the scribblers to “ resume their pens” and call attention to matters of less import. Myrtle creek is doing something this season worth noticing. Frank Fish has secured and sent out sev eral hundred boxes of fine apples from this vicinity and many bushels were lost for want of timely atten tion. The woodman’s ax is heard from early morn till night and the first freshet will carry out many fine logs. A nice bunch of cattle went out from the upper creek on Wednes day. Thomas Evcrnden aud Cbas. Price had special cause for thanks giving on Thursday, from the fact that James Evernden secured on that day a huge bear which has been playing havoc with their sheep fo r some time. Mrs. Mead, of Joplin, Mo., who has been here visiting for several weeks, went to Myrtle Point Wed nesday on her way to Riverton to visit the Prices at that place, and expects to go to Ilandon for a sight of the ocean before returning to her home. Fred Coffey, our genial mail car rier, is to leave for Portland in n few days. Ralph Winningham takes his place. A uto . --------- - . » . <--------------------- A m e r ic a n J r .
