Japanese Defeat the Russians.
Liao Yang, October 14.— In one
of the hottest fights of the present
campaign the great leader, Oyarua,
with a magnificent army of Japan
ese, drove the Russians out of Muk
den and succeeded, after a desper
ate struggle, in which both Bidee
lost heavily, in capturing thirty big
Russian guns. The Russians, un-
nble to stand tho terrific fire rained
down upon them from the Japanese
guns, began a retreat and are now
retiring across the Hun river with
the Japanese army in close pursuit.
When the Japanese next confront
the Russians they will draw up their
lines in fan fashion, as this has
proven the most effective manner of
nttack and, with Kuroki on the
right, Oku on the left and Nodzu
occupying the center, will make a
mighty effort to effect the complete
overthrow of the Russian army.

Wind Horse, South Africa, states
that Hendrick W itboi, who led the
rebellion of ten years ago, has again
declared war against the Qermans.
I t is expected that the majority of
the Hottentot tribes will join the
uprising.
