V. DeWItt. Brake man on Teal
Creek Railroad Dies Beneath
the Wheels
Thursday morning R. V. DeWitt
was run over by the Teal Creek
logging train and instantly killed.
The engine was pushing some
trucks and DeWitt was running
in front of the trucks to throw a
switch. He tripped and fell, and
although the cars were moving
slowly he was so close that there
was no possibility of preventing
the catastrophe.
Four wheels
passed over his body crushing his
life out.
The body was taken to the
Chapman Undertaking parlors at
Dallas and prepared for burial.

The Campfire Girls and Boy-
Scouts are going to give the play,
"Hiawatha.” It will be given
out of doors, and will be free to
all. Several of the girls went to
Dallas Friday evening to see the
picture, “The Beast of Berlin.”
At our next ceremonial meeting
the girls will receive their wood-
gatherers ring. They are made
of sterling silver and represent
