Every phase o f the meat industry, as well as the consuming public, will be represented on advisory committees now being organized. “ Regulations under the license are being formulated,” says a food admin istration statement, “ on the basis of a fair profit to the packer and protec tion for the grower and consumer. The division is not to fix the price at which the farm er sells his stock. It has, however, the duty o f directing export imrchases o f beef and pork products and proposes to use this power to sta bilize the price, to support remunera tive prices to the farmer and, by the excision o f speculation, to protect the consumer. Car Shortage Hampers. North Yakim a— It is estimated by growers and shippers that the fruit shipments o f Yakima valley were cut short 400 cars last week by reason o f the car shortage. The apple move ment is just now at its height. The shipments o f the week before were more than 1100 cars, but last week they fe ll to 821 cars, with every ware house and packing shed in the valley hunting with the product which the growers are now rushing to get under cover before cold weather overtakes them.
