When the general store o f Lucas
& Price, at Rickreall. which also
contains the postoffice of the ham
let, was opened Wednesday* morn
ing, it was discovered that bur
glars had paid a visit during the
night. Entrance had been gain
ed by forcing the front door.
Nothing was taken from the
stock o f the store, but about $50
in stamps w a s missing. No
money had been left in the money
drawer by Postmaster Price.

robbed about a year ago, at which
time the safe was blown. Since
that time no safe has been used
in the office.
Some time during the same
night burglars entered the resi
dence o f H. C. Eakin, the Dallas
attorney, at Rickreall. and Mrs.
Eakin's mesh-bag, containing her
watch and several dollars in
money taken. The fam ily was
asleep upstairs and did not hear
the nocturnal visitor.
The robberies were reported to
Sheriff Orr, who made a personal
investigation and came to the con
clusion that the job was done by
tramps, who had doubtless come
out from Salem. During the
forenoon the discarded stamp
book, from which the stamps had
been removed, was found along
the road near Greenwood, indica
ting that the robbers had passed
that way after leaving Rickreall.
