Church Gets Eddy Fortune.
Boston. By the terms of the will
of Mrs. Mary Baker G. Eddy to the
Christian Science church, the source
from which it oame, goes the bulk of
her eetate, which, inclusive of the
value of copyrights, Is about $1,500,
000. This part of the estate, which
will be about $1,000,000, Is under the
terms of the will to be devoted to the
propagation of the faith.

BIG COYOTE HAUL.
Irvlu Frazter of Imcnahai brought In
six coyote and two bobcat skins
Thursday, and received the bounty,
and also a good price for the pelt.
James Fields brought in a coyote
caught to a trap on, the Watson
ranch on Alder Slope. Two others
that he shot a few days before
showed lota of bravery for coyotes.

Grouse, Dec. 15 A telephone from
Cloverlaad received this morning
says whlto Ellas- Sargent's wo oldest
children were returning from school
yesterday evening, they stopped by
the way a-ndl were, playing! on 'the ice
on a small pond by the roadside.
The Ice broke and Aibible, the girl,
was drowned. Her -bodiy was not
found until 9 o clock last n-ifehb. She
was about 11 years, old. The; hoy was
found in time to save h!tm aiive but
badly strangled and chi'.led.
Ihe county court of Asotin county
in a special session, issued an- order
for every dog to the county to be
confined, so as to protect them from
com ng in contact with animals) sup
posed to b infected wi-hi -rabies.
The farmers Jm the Grouse coun
try are watching their stock very
carefully a It Is all out oni the
range In the canyons1 anld doing fine,
no enow and the ground soft. There
has been same stock lost, supposed
to -have been bitten, by coyotes
having hydrophobia, but no wounds
have been discovered so It Is not
generally believed that coyote bites
were the cause. Great care; should
be taken and anilmals should not
run at large which have been la
contact with coyotes, or which show
signs of deranigement in any shape.
We can't be too careful when it la
well known that something uncom
mon, is the matter with thosie beasts.

May Contest Mrs. Eddy's Will.
Boston. That George Glover, son
of Mary Baker G. Eddy, late head of
the Christian Science church, may
contest the will of his mother on the
grounds that she was Incompetent to
make such an Instrument, was the
statement of Attorney Frederick W.
Peabody.
ARIZONA ADOPTS
ITS CONSTITUTION
Phoenix, Ariz. The constitutional
convention of Arizona adjourned af
ter being in session 61 days, and
finally adopting a constitution, desig
nated by the majority members as the
most progressive ever framed, and by
the minority as the most socialistic.
One Republican only, John Lang
don, of Globe, signed the document
and he was given an ovation which
lasted several minutes when he did
so. One Democrat, Ellinwood, of
Blsbee, declined to sign, explaining
on the final roll call that he voted
with the opposition because he be
lieved the recall as- applied to the Ju
diciary would destroy the Independ
ence of the courts of the state and
Invite the disapproval of President
Taft.
Among the progressive provisions
of the document are: Initiative and
referendum, the recall of all elective
officers, direct primaries and direct
advisory primary for United States
senators. ' . . j
Cordova, Alaska. The Alaska S. S.
Company's steamer'Olympia, with 106
persons aboard, is ashore on Bllgli
Island, Prince William Sound. There
are 62 passengers aboard the Olympla.
Among those who sailed from here
for Valdez and Seward are United
States District Judge Cushmnn, Mrs.
Cushman and members of the Third
District Court, who are on their way
the Valdez. The crew of the Olynip'a
consists of 54 officers and men, Cap
tain Daniels being in command.
The Olympla sailed from Cordova
at 6 o'clock Sunday night, having ar- -rived
from Seattle earlier In the day.
Although the night was clear and n
full moon shed a bright light, navig i
tion was made dangerous by a BO
mile gale, which was blowing from
the north-.
Between 12 and 1 o'clock Monday
morning the operator on duty at the
, navy wireless station picked up t'na
distress signal of the Olympla. He
answered at once. Operator Hayes,
on the Olympla, then sent an urgent
appeal for help, saying that the Olym
pla had struck on Bligh Island and
was In an exposed position. Heavy
seas are breaking over her, making
the position of those on board all the
more perilous.
1 Several vessels are on the way to
the assistance of the Olympla. Many
! of these are small craft, and It la
, doubtful .whether they will be able to
' weather the furious galo.
