Ben. E. Puller diei at his home In
Eden Nov. 23. He was 74 years of
age last June 2 His Ohrea sana and
one daughter remain to mourn for him.
His .wife died some years ago. Four
of his sons are also dead, one or
whom was drowned In Snake river a
few years ago.
Mr. Puller was a kind father and
good neighbor and ibelovedi by those
who were acqualnited with him.

The Masons started the movement
to thus honor the memory of one
who diid so much good for 'the coun
ty and for the people, but so many
outside 'the fraternity expressed a
wish to contribute 'the imaititer wa
thrown opew and the monument l a
reminder of the geniara'l estoenn tn
which M,r. Rouse was and Is1 held by
the people of Wallowa county.
The stone is of handsome black
Maine granite, dressed and carved
by Mr. Charlesl Wiligorodt of Uhla city
and contains besides Mr. Rouse's
name, years of birth and death, a
keystone, High Priest Jewel and
the following words: "Erec'ted by
many friends to Wallowa oumty In
wliose memory he still lives as a
Pioneer, Instructor and Benefactor."

Wednesday was very largely attend

Joseph, Wallowa, Loatlnie, Ininana
and other points, but the out-of-town
