90,000 to 110,000 men to supplant the

The - interstate commerce commis
sion has under consideration the ques
tion of setting a definite date when
rates under the so-called lntermoun

Seventy-seven men heroically gave
their lives in efforts to subdue the
forest fires in the west, during the
latter part of. August, according to
figures given out by the foreat service.
These were mostly temporary em
ployes engaged for the purpose of
fighting the fires.
