was unhurt. '
E. W. Rumble of La Grande was
here Wednesday and Thursday. Mr.
Rumble has bought hundreds of tons
of hay In the valley this summer,
and he says lit Is the finest quality
he ever saw. He has bought con
siderable grain also, and praises
the quality of the Leap wheat very
highly.
C. K. Due of Rognaa, who was
la town, Thursday; reports having
lied two bears, a tig one weigh
ing about 200 pounds, and a large
cub, on Tepee , creek below his
place a few day ago. He met three

not have any more bullets in his
