Thursday, September 29, will be
Union County day at the big WaT
owa County fair la Enterprise. A
dozen fair boosters made the trip
:o La Grande and surroundtmg towns
.Vednesday and Thursday, and they
bring back assurances that great in
vest la taken in our fait out there
and many ere preparing to come.
A special train will run from La
Grande on that day and special
round trip rates given from all Union
county stations.
. Hundreds of reople hi Union coun
ty have longed to see but aever
have seen the far-famed beautiful
vVallowa valley.
This will be their opportunity. The
autumnal glor!e3 of field, meadow,
mountain side and cloud-capped
jeaks are to their fullest effulgence.
They will carry back with them a
memory of beauty and grandeur that
will stay with them all' their lives and
be worth every day all the trivial

horses, cattle and other stock to be
held every day of the Wallowa County
fair except Monday, bids well to be
the biggest thing of the kind ever
held In. Eastern. Oregon. Personal
letters have bean written to over -400
stock buyers In, the Northwest,
and a large attendance of outside
purchasers seems assured'.
The stock offered for sale will In
clude some of the best lav Wallowa
county and that means the best la
all the Northwest, for Wallowa coun
ty 13 second to none In stock
horses, cattle, sheep and swine.
On. Tuesday alone over 100 head of
high grade Percherons, Clydes and
Shires will be offered' for tale. They
are from the well known stables of
i. A. Anderson and George Wagner.
That fact la enough to guarantee
the quality of the horses, as every
horseman tn several counties round
about knows. -
That sale Is but a sample of .what
will be taking place on Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday and Saturday forenoons.
Mr. Anderson, who is one of the
foremost horse breeders In Eastern
Oregon, and a big woolgrower as
well, says there are over 800 horses
already In sight, for 'the sales to say
nothing about the cattle, Bheep and
hogs.
No lover of fine stock can afford
to miss these great sales whether
he is a probable purchaser or not.

will be up to the standard of those

are rapidly being completed. From

county Is working to make fair week
a hom -coming week, and Is writing
to absent members of family and
