La Grande sugar factory, who was
here looking after the details of har
vesting their tig crop In this coun
ty, returned' to La Grande, Wednes
day. Mr. Brarawel says the harvest
will begin in here September 26 and
will last 40 days. Japs will be
brought to to do the handi work, but
100 span of horses will be required,

station, Monday morning to Portland
and Seattle markets, by Chandler &
Walker.
The cattle were a fine lot and
no doubt will top the market.

HIS 16.000TH LECTURE.
Michael J. Fanning, a noted Irish
temperance lecturer, spoke In the
Christian church Tuesday evening
to a good sized audience. He talked
in favor of state-wide prohibition.
This, he stated, was his 16,000thi lec
ture, which he claims 1 the record'
for long wind. He expect to deliver
4000 more speeches.
