W. E. Hayes, a- well known ranch
er living on the Slope and1 running
oattle down on the Imnaha in the
Horse Creek district, arrived In En
terprise Friday night from his stock
range. Sir. Hayes states that in
the eleven years, he has been on
the .regno to the Imnaha country he
never has seen the young grouse, so
plentiful. He has seen hundreds of
hens and each has had from eight
to as many as fifteen chickens. This
report will be received with Joy by
the hunters who enjoy not only the
hunt but young grouse meat. The
grouse season opens with that of
the native pheasant season, August
15 and continues to November 15.
That Is the season for Wallowa,
Union, Umaiillla, Grant, and Baker
counties in this slate. . Just what
the bag limit for grouse Is the ab
stract of game -a ntd fish laws at hand

hens and cocks, prairie chickens,
quail and upland birds differ in dif
