wheat laind on earth, and - lni . the
best hard whe?t c.imate in the world,
will be interested in hearing that
Wallowa county hill- lands receive
sufficient rainfall, as a general
thing, to ralsg a bumper crop; of
wheat yearly. There are years here,
just as there are years- In the Illinois
corn belt, when the crop varies from
the preceding or the succeeding
crop; but generally speaking the hill
land, .without Jirilgatlon, can- produce

HERE LOOKING AT LAND
PROBABLY TO LOCATE.
Mr. and Mrs, B. C. Martin, of west
ern Colorado, near -the famous fruit
center of Grand Junction, are here
with a view to locating. Mr. Martin-,
impresses the observer most fa
vorably as a man of good, practical
Ideas. He is looking over the coun
ty leisurely in order that he might
find1 land openings that may suit him,
In which event he will locate here.
The rains of Wallo.wa county, giv
ing unmistakable assurance that
Wheat and other grains can- be grown
on . the hill lands without Irrigation,
impress Mr. Martin favorably. But
above all,-Wallowa county has; water
enough to Irrigate double the acre
age of hill lands, in addition to the
rainej if irrigation Is needed. The
people of Wallowa county welcome
Mr. and Mrs. Martin, and can assure
them that iit they settle here they
wll' be-made to feel at home from
the start. i

or new land plowed this spring than
at any other time in the history of
the county. The report is from vari
ous sources,- that there hasi been
more land turned over thia spring

cheap, must get Into Wallowa coun
ty within, a comparatively short time,
if he would find any land at all.

ENTERPRISE AND WALLOWA COUNTY.
Enterprise is the growing, lively county seat of
Wallowa county. It is centrally situated in the
county. It will draw from the vast land and stocK
and general agricultural and mineral resources of
the county, sufficiently to become eventually a big
inland county seat. -
. It is a city of generous, busy hustlers. (
It is rapidly building up with stone building's.
In time it will be Known as the "Stone City."
Millions of the best building stone, soft and
free from lime and hardening on exposure, lie
within half a dozen miles of Enterprise.
There is water power enough flowing right
through the center of the city to run all the spin
dles and wheels of a great manufacturing center.
Enterprise is surrounded by as fine wheat land
as lies out of doors.
It draws from some of the best fruit land in
America.
When you come west, come to Enterprise and
looK Wallowa county over on the 0. R. S N. rail

THE OSTEOPATHIC PRIMER;
A Third Cause of Dls-
Pressure
On- Nerves.
Wt have -now seen how both the
jurd und soft partai of the body may
In'.evftie with the work of the nerves
and blood vessels and thus cause dis
ease. ' he stomach, bowels, liver pan
creas speen, ietc, cannot be lni a
healthy conddllou- If the nerve
force which in absolutely necessary
to health, is shut off. Hence, any of
the diseases to which these organs
are liable may be the result of mis
piaced organs. ,
But we have already shown that a
contracted muscle has the same ef
fect. Then It Is necessary to our
conception of disease that mal-posl-Uon
of this or other vertebrae is the
only cause of dyspepsia, biliousness,
malaria, constipation, etc. Con
tracted muscles of the back, by
changing nerve currents and blood
flow will have a like effect.
We have now explained two con
ditions which may so weaken the
nervous system that It becomes an
easy matter for disease to Invade
the body.
As Regards Disease Germs.
Just as- a matter of reference let
'i at the osteopath contends
that there must be such, weakening
of the nervosa system or other tis
sues other words must be a pre
disposing or exciting cause In order
to permit sneciflo germs to breed Irf
the tissues wad cause disease. We.
as a school do not deny the existence
or disease germs, but do hold that
there fa not yet sufficient proof to
make the theory tenable that they
are per se the cause of disease.
