Plenty to Do.
"You would seem to be doing n good
business," said tbe meter render to the
druggist.
"It's unusually good tonight." replied
the cheerful druggist. "I've hud seven
patrons who asked to see the city di
rectory, five who used the telephone,
eleven who bought postage bin nips
and one who wanted me to remove his
porous plaster. It's a rush of business
like this that mil lien a druggist wish
he hud been brought up a motormun

The Sublime Porte.
The phruse "the sublime porte" arises
from an aspect of the sultan's capital.
The French words "sublime porte" nre
derived from "porta sublimu," meau
lng "the lofty gate." Constantinople
city used to have twelve gates, ami
near one wus a building with an im
posing gateway called Hub l-lluiiinjun.
In this building resided the grand
vizier, and there nlso were the olUces
of tbe chief ministers, whence all the
edicts of state were Issued. The
French phrase was adopted because
at the time French wus the language
of European diplomacy.
