Older Than Hie Father.
A curious tombstone has been dis
covered at' the Ilfracombe church
yard by a correspondent. The inscrip
tion reuds as follows: "In memory of
William Orimths. died October 25. 1835,
aged 137 years. Also Wlllm., father of
the ubove. who died October 2, 1845,
aged 72 years." According to the
dates given, , the sop was sixty-five
years older than the fatUer.-London

Old Time Butterscotch.
Tut three pounds of light brown
sugar in nn enameled kettle with three
fourths of a pound of butter. Place
over a moderate tire to melt; let it boll
