The cattle were bought, from Ray Vest, Hanson llroi,, Haas Ilroa. and iVni. Zurcher, who received an ave .age price of 30 a head for the 150 cows. The catt'e were driven from lere to Walla Walla. Cattlemen are expecting a better )rice this fall than was paid a year igo. Independence day was appropriately observed here lusi Sunday by a patriotic program not at all out of pluce for the sabbath day, A large crowd listened to the patriotic sermon in the morning by itev. Fred G. Potter. Those who ere compelled to remain outside oeing orderly and attentive. The basket dinner made ample provision for ail and was pronounced by those who know, to be way ahead of any thing I-a Grande can do. The afternoon program which con sisted mainly of songs and recita tions by the young people of Prom ise, Sunny Side, Riverside and Gross inan, was well rendered and appreci ated by all. Ed Larklus was given a hearing before Justice J. A. Cox of Wallowa, Saturday, on the charge of threaten ing to kill 1. C. May, the threat be ing alleged to have been made on June 30.
