SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT
BILL IS BOWLED OVER
The bill Representative Rusk got
through the legislature, fixing the
salary ol the school superintendent
of Wallowa county at $1200, was ve
toed by Go pernor Chamberlain af
ter the legislature adjourned. The
till contained a provision that at
tempted t3 refer the matter of la-
creaso tit the people of the county.
Regarding this the governor states:
"It porporU to submit the act to
the voters of Wallowa county, but
the reiC'enuum therein contained
is imperfect and the bill will become
crermAc at she expiration of 90 days
after the adjournment of the session

A Common Cold.
We claim that if catching cold
could be avoided some of the most
dangerous and fatal diseases would
never be heard of. A cold often
forms a culture bed for germs of
infectious diseases. Consumption,
pneumonia, diphtheria, and scarlet
fever, four of the most dangerous
and fatal diseases, are of this class
The culture bed formed by the, cold
favors the development of the germs
of these diseases, that would not
o herwlse find lodgment. There is
ii'.V.e danger, however, of any of
these dUeases being contracted when
a good expectorant cough medicine
like Chamberlain's Cough Remedy
Is used. It cleans out these culture
beds that favor the development of
the germs of these diseases. That Is
why this remedy has proved so uni
ver sally successful in preventing
pneumonia. It not only cures your
cold quickly, but minimizes the risk
of contracting these dangerous dis
eases. - For sale by Burnaugh &
