Another big shipment of stock left
Enterprise Wednesday morning, con
sisting of four car loads of cattle
and four cars of hogs. M. E. Hotch
kiss sent out two cars of cattle
and three of hogs. Frank Graham
had one car of hogs and will add
two more at Elgin.
Harry Dowd shipped two cars of
cattle to Wallace, Ida., and is expect
ing a bunch of cattle up from the
Imnaha in time to ship a car load
Saturday and four Monday.
Mr. Dowd says Wallowa county
beef is getting a big reputation up
in northern Idaho, and people are
ill praising the improved quality of
meat since the butchers nave Been
getting their supplies in this county.
Another testimony to the many oth
ers that Wallowa county beef is
the tenderest and best flavored in
the world.
O. W. Kinney went with the Dowd
shipment and G. W. Chandler, Guy
DuBoia, C. C. Graham and Lou Davis
with the other stock to Portland.
Express Business Starts.
Traveling Auditor Burch of the
Pacific Express company was in this
week and extended the service of
that company to Enterprise and Jos
eph. Agent Harman sent out the first
expre3sThursday morning. The depot
will be ready in 10 days or two
wfieks.
General Superintendent Buckley,
accompanied by Assistant Campbell
and Engineer Erandon, in Mr. Buck
ley's orivate car. were over the line
Thursday and Friday oa a tour of in
spection. W. H. Grave3 has been given a per
mit for stock scales on the depot
grounds. He will put in the scales
early next spring.
