The Reasoo For The Masons.
A little girl was askttU to write au
essay on the wise man and this is w lmt
she produced : '
"King Soloman was a man who lived
ever so many years ago. In the com: try
he governed he was the whole push.
He w as an awful wise man and one day
two women went to chop the baby in
two and give each a baby and each
claiming it. The king was nut feeling
right. Why could not the brat hava
been twins and saved all this trouble?
Soloman culled for his sworl aud was
going to chop the baby in two and give
each one of tlicin a pieue'of it, when the
one who was the mother of the baby
said : 'Stop Soloman, stay thy hand ;
if I can't have the whole baby I don't
want any. Let the old hag have it.'
Then King Solomau told her to take the,
baby aud go home and wash its face
(or he knew it was hers. He told tho
other to go chase herself. King Hob
man built a temple and was the father
of all the Masons. He had 700 wives
and 300 lady frior.tls and that's why
there are so many Mast ns in the world.
My papa says King Soloman was a
warm member, and I think he was hot
stuff invHelf. That's all I know about
King.Soloumu." Selected by Owyhee
