Two railroad officials came through
Lostine last Wedneday. They were
making an estimate of the treight valu
ation of the county In order to. decide
whether to finish the road to Wallowa
city this fall. It was decided that noth
ing further would be done until spring.
Lyle Makin, of Eagle valley, arrived
Saturday in Lostine where he will re
main a short time visiting friends and
relatives. His sister, Ryll, he says, was
married about a month ago to a pros
perous young farmer of that place.
The Sunday school Las made special
arrangements for a Christmas program
and a Christmas tree and services will
be given at the Presbyterian church.

eral days. A spider was supposed to
have been the cause1 of its death.
About a week ago Dr. Hewett lanced
two ulcers which seemed to he the
poisonous location hut the weak and
frail constitution of the five months old
child could not overcome the weakening
results which fcllowed. The child's
parents are well known throughout the
county and many frieuds unite in ex
tending sympathy to the boreaved
family.
