Enterprise La Grande, Joseph . . . , 833 .666 .571 .000 Note: The protested Elgin-Enter prise game of June 19 Is not includ ed in above standing. In one of the best and quickest played games ever on the local grounds, Enterprise won from Jo seph, Sunday, one to nothing, main ly by the nia?teruy twirling of BI1- yeu, who aliowe.i the heavy hitting visUors but three hits and struck out 13 of them. He held them in .he hollow ofhLs hand at all times his sharp curves, puzzling change of speed and splendid brain work com pletely mystifying the batsmen. Bauer caught a fine game and killed wl'th a perfect throw the only attempt to steal. The entire team was up on Its toes ail the time Casey French, Face and Savage mak tag star plays, French's, work espec ially being of big league order. Joseph presented almost a new anc a vastly improved team. Manion, the Mt. Angel college coach, was behind the bat, Brown, a good left-hander, in the box, and Welch, a profession al player, on third. Those sterling members of last year's Cove team, Kail on first and Walters, the crack quarter mile runner, in center put up a fine game. The effect of Manlon's coaching was seen In team play thait shut off at least one and possibly more Enterprise scores Welch played a good: third but mar red his record by a wild throw to fir3t. Brown was being found with considerable frequency towards the close of the game but good field ing saved him a worse beating The score story la brief. Only 12 on a side went to bat to the first four Innings, though three Joseph men reached first. Walters was. hit 1) '. perished in trying to steal sec ond. Walters, running for Pidcock, was given life for a minute by Pace's fumble, but the latter re trived his error iby catching Walt era on the moth-eaten hidden ball rck. Kail also reached first on an error but was doubled' when Frtcoh shot the ball to first after catering Shutt's pop-up. In the fifth Manion reached second on a long fly to left that Savage mis judged, but was caught at the plate on a lightning double by Hug, Pace and Bauer. Biilyeu made the first hit of the game in the fifth, and Savage run ning for him stole second and came all the way home -on XIanlon's wild throw over second. This proved the winning tally, though the error was not needed to bring the score in as Pace followed with a' smashing single to deep right center that would have scored Savage. Pace stole second but was left there by the succeeding batsmen. French knocked a daisy two-bag ger In the sixth but was out trying to stretch It for three bases. Bll yeu made another single In the seventh and his runner, Savage, reached second on Welch's wild heave, only to be caught trying to make third on the ancient overthrow to second trick. Pace made another lilt In the eighth but waa forced at third. The nearest Joseph came to scor ing was In the seventh. Kail was on second by virtue of hia single and Shutt's sacrifice, when Manion banged a long fly to left that looked good for at least two bases, but Sav age saved the day by a splendid run ning catch. It prevents loss of weight and strength from worry caused by attacks of insects, and from the irritation of their bites and stings.
