NEED OF CENTRAL PARK.
Park sites adjacent to the business
renter of Enterprise' are limited to
lone or two, and they will be gone
j before another summer at the pres.
i emt rate of the town's growth.
! Events of the la3t two months show
: the extreme need of an open space
for public purposes near the business
j district. A place for celebrations Is
essential to the financial success of
such gatherings, if not absolutely
necessary to holding them at all.
j A central park would a'so give a
I place for all other out-dojr gathe.--!
lugs, besides serving as a place of
rest and recreation.
I Of the one or two site3 remaining,
jit is slated one at least can now
.o secured on fairly reasonable terms.
This i.s the chance for someone to
-itart a move that would be of inesti
mable benefit not only to the pres

come.
, PAYING FOR NOISE.
The returns of Toarth of July casu
alties so far gathered and published
') the Chicago Record-Herald, cover
ing the entire United States, show
that as usual the deaths from wounds
caused by the payer cap pistols to
be far in the leal. It is the dead
liest of all means employed to "cele
brate" the glorious anniversary, and
the worst feature is the victims are
all innocent children who suffer ter
rible deaths from lockjaw. The paper
cap pistols and canes should be rigid
ly barred from sale, and now Is the
time for the council to pass the ordi
nance, long before dealers place their
orders for next year.
Dynamite crackers should also be
prohlbled, though they are not so
deadly as the paper cap pistols and
canes, and pro':a'Jly a majority of
their victims are grown men or large
boys. .Most persons would say that
any grown man or large boy who
ioscs a hand or arm fooling with a
lynamiie cracker, deserves his fate.
The foolkiller is way behind on his
job and needs some help. But for
:he sake of chillre.i, prohibit the
lynamlte cracker as well a3 the
ijistols and canes.

TUCKER NOT CHASED I
OUT OF CANADA !
Editor:
In your Issue of the third week
of May. I notice In your write up of
my arrest in Montana, you stated
that "in my usual way he. (mean
ing myself) soon got Into trouble
and was chased aeross the border
into Montana, by the mounted police."
This statement that I got Into troub
le In Canada or was chased across
the line Is entirely without truth. I
left Stettler, Alberta, on the 11:45
a. m. train, on February 24, 1909, in
broad daylight, bought my ticket to
Calgary, and got onto the train
with a mounted policeman standing
within arms reach of me, who knew
me personally, spoke to me, and with
whom I had eaten dinner the Sun
day before at Gaudios Baudan's ranch
13 miles from Stettler.
I defy any one to produce any evi
dence or proof that I ever had any
trouble of any kind or that there
ever was or is now any kind of a
charge standing asainst me in Canada
Thanking you for giving this state
ment the same publicity as you gave
the article mentioned.
Yojh very truly,
T. E. TUCKER.
