One of the Interesting events of
the Fourth of July celebration here,
will be a horseshoe tournament for
the southern Oregon championship.
This feature is under the direction
of J. D. Beeson, and will attract
crack horseshoe pitchers of this sec
tion of the country.
The games will be played under
the Spauldlng horseshoe pitching
rules, and all points decided accord
ingly. Shoes will be furnished, but
any one desiring to do so, may bring
their own shoes to pitch with.

north of Gold Hill, one ot the most
productive quicksilver mines in the
west. Many prominent county busi
ness men have subscribed stock and
are tuking an active part in Its de

of the War Eagle mine are bright
and when the present program of
the directors Is carried out, this mine
will be known throughout the coun
