it is remembered that Kramer has
been racing (or more than 20 years,
and that he held the world champion
ship for 17 years straight, it must
admitted that such a man is su-

The; Pacific Coast tennis cham
pionships now going on at Berkeley,
Cal have shown that new stars are
being developed on this coast. How
ard Kinsey for the past two yeirs
has been known as a wonderful drfu
bles player with his brother Uoli,
and was always fair in singled. His1
performance against world doubles
Bill Johnston in the Bingles stamps
Kinsey as havln even a greater fu
ture on the singles courts than his
friends have credited him with. True,
Johnston beat Kinsey, hut If wj
one of those victories wlr.'re I ho
champion was mighty lucky to get
away with It. Further than that
Kinsey showed remarkable all round
Improvement in his game, and forced
Johnston to do his best.
More than one hundred of the best
eastern athletes are coming to this

thirty from San Francisco ami about
the same number from Portland and
tho Pacific Northwest and yoit .have
as fine a gathering of the country's.
und the world's, best men that has
ever been gathered together on this
coast. The various big amateur ath
letic clubs of this coast are taWim
advantage of the visit of tn eastern
men and having meets after tho
chiiiuplonshlps. San Diego with im
iliiestionably the greatest and best
equipped athb-tlc stadium on this
coast is letting a big opportunity slip
