The site of the new rifle range will be near the i'eter Murfay place near the old cov ered bridge across Bfar creek about a mile and n quarter from the center of the city. Most of the tract Is now owned by the Balfour-Guthrie, Company of l'ortlund. Negotiations will be immediately commenced to acquire the rango for summer rifle practicer In the afternoon the visiting of ficers were driven over the Pacific gards the locker system, arm racks and cleaning facilities, he declared them to be excellent, and that there was more system displayed In this particular tbun anywhere else In tho state. The company also received a grading of "Excellent" on their rec ords. On account of two carelessly clean ed rifles, the company had lo tuke second place in the condition of the Springfield, the Medford company taking first place in this respect. A good cold ducking has been promised anyone who ever again lowers thu record of the company in this respect. In the matter of drill. Colonel Ma pes stated that (Flrst Company showed a .diversified knowledge, though of course, compared to a res ular army company, the showing in this respect allowed plenty of room for Improvement. One thing that was praised wag the espirlt de corps (spirit) of the or ganization, and the discipline and ef ficiency shown. Also the fact that ' Ashland Posl, No, 14 ASHLAND, OREGOX Glean .
