The clergyman to deliver the sermon In the morning in the Chautuuqua building will be the newly appointed resident bishop ot Oregon, Bishop W. 0. Shep aro, D. D., L. L, D. There is also good prospects that . James W. Gerard, former ambassador to Ger many, will be the speaker at the patriotic meeting in the park on the afternoon of July 4. Helying ou the fact that Mr. Gerard may be in San Francisco attending the democratic conven tion the latter part of June, Mr. Stapes conceived the Ideu of se curing this national personage to speak to the celebration crowds at Ashland on the Fourth. Since the purchase of the Hotel Austin has been consummated by Jesse V.'inburn of New York, which hai n.ude him interested in Ashland projects so he can be virtually claimed as an Ashlund citizen, Mr. Staples naturally turned to him for assistance in this great Fourth of July celebration project.
