FEATURES OF THE NEW FORD CAR
55 T O 65 MILES A N H O U R
T h e new Band has
speed. I t w ill do 59 to 6 0 miles
an hour « M l ease. T h is is a conservative statement. In
many send «m s it has exceeded 65 miles an hour. So w ell
does ¿ a M a r car hold the road that you can travel at h ig h
speed h r n o t w w h * * w ith a. new feeling o f com fort and
safety. Is e n bad roads may be taken at a fast pace. Y o u
w fll be delighted too w ith the way the new Ford climbs
die bills. Y o u w ill face the steepest grades w ith confi
dence, know ing you have pow er and pow er to spare to
clim b t^em all w ithout greatly reduced speed, without
s tra iiv o r unnecessary shifting o f gears. •

JL he minute you «cc the pictures of
the new Ford car you will be de
lighted with its low, smart lines and
the archtic color com binations.
T h ere, you w ill say, is a tr u ly
modem car.
But a still greater thrill awaits you
when you slip into the roomy seiat
behind the wheel and start away for
your first ride. Then you will know
that you have found the most unusual
value ever offered in a lbtfr-price car.
You will like the feeling o f speed
and power that the new Ford gives
tag that comes from having a car
worthy o f any occasion and equal to
every emergency.
■' Y ou will like the flexibility and
safety o f the new Ford car as you
weave in and oqt o f city traffic— its>
flashing pick-up as the light turns
green and the sign says "Go.” Ydu
will like its smooth, quiet steadiness
on the open road where you can
lazy along according to your mood,
or do 55 and even 65 m iles an

The new Ford will climb hills thit •
you never thought a low-price car
would climb on high. It w ill pass cars
that you never thought you could pass.
The longest trips will seem easy, for
here is a car that puts new joy in
expanding-shoe type and areself-centering. T tye is the most
reliable and the simplest type o f four-wheel brake and the
easiest to adjust. A il adjustments are made from the out
side without removing any parts. N o special tools are
needed. U n ifo rm , correct adjustment on each wheel is
quickly- and easily obtained. T h e brake pedal and the
band lever each operate all four brakes. T o ta l braking
surface is 168 square inches. A ll brake w o rk in g parts are
cadmium plated to make them rust-proof.
MULTIPLE DRY-DISC CLUTCH
40-HORSE-POW ER ENGINE
T h e clutch in the new Ford is o f the multiple dry-disc type,
which is the most reliable. I t is also the easiest to operate,
fo r it takes hold gently and smoothly. I t has four d rivin g
discs and five driven discs.

o f miles o f steady running over all
kinds o f roads. It has even more
stamina than the M odel T Ford
because we have learned to make
every part stronger and sturdier
without increased weight or greatly
increased cost..
Many o f the Model T Ford cars
are still in active service after 75,-
000, 100,000 and 150,000 miles.
This new Ford car will do even
better. In the words o f Henry Ford:
j f t is our ambition to have %
every
piece o f machinery or non-consuifr-
able product that w e turn put so
strong and ,-so well-made that no
pne ought ever to have to buy a

four-wheel-brakes and
standard, selective gear shift
On the right w e are printing, for the
first time, the complete details of
the new Ford car. Read them over
carefully, especially the paragraphs
dealing with the new engine; the new
bodies, the new standard, selective
gear shift transmission w ith* roller
bearings, the new four-wheel .brakes,
the n ew hydraulic shock absorb
ers, die new mechanical design igni
tion, the new oiling system, and the
new dry-plate, muldple-disc chifch.
Then decide that whatever else
you do Friday you are going to set
aside at least fifteen minutes to get
the full story o f the new Ford car.
It is more than a new automobile.
It is the advanced expression o f a

T h e new Ford Is remarkably quick on the get-away. In
tests in high gear, w ith a T u d o r sedan body and tw o pas
sengers, it has accelerated from 5 to 25 miles per hour in
8 Vi seconds. T h is acceleration is an outstanding feature
o f the new Ford car;

T h e engine in the new Ford is practically vibrationless.
T h is is due in part to its lo w e r r. p. m ., the statically and
dynamically balanced crankshaft, and the aluminum pis
tons. T o Insure quiet, the tim in g gears are made o f babe
lized fabric instead o f metal, ana the cams on the camshaft
are so designed that the valve push rods fo llo w them closely,
preventing valve clicking.

U N IQ U E N E W O ILIN G SYSTEM
T h e o ilin g system is distinctly Ford in . design, being a
combination o f pump, splash, and gravity feed. T h e pump
delivers die o il to the valve chamber, from w hich it flows
by gravity feed to the m ain bearings o f the crankshaft.
A n o il dipper is provided on each connecting rod bearing

simple but entirely dependable system, assuring proper
lubrication o f each bearing and each cylinder without
pressure.
perfected cooling
T h e new Ford car has a centrifugal w ater pump, and large
radiator. T h e fan runs on the pump shaft and is made
.«ting to airplane propeller design. I t la exceedingly
difficult to make the new Ford engine overheat; only abuse
■will do it, such as running w ithout enough oil. z
IG N IT IO N SYSTEM OF NEW DESIGN
T h e Ign itio n system o f the new Ford Is unique In mechan
ical design, extremely simple, and w ill give the car owner
exceptional performance w ith a m inim um o f trouble.
T h e re is only one coil, in a w ater-proof case. T h e distrib
u to r is located on«top o f thé engine w here it is d ean and
easily acceaalM r Connections are mode to die spark
plugs by short bronzy springs. T h e coincidental lode on
dm new Ford is placed in the ignition circuit. I t not only
replaces the regular ig n itio n switch, but in the "off” posi
tio n grounds the entire d u rait. From the switch to the
distributor a steal cable protects the prim ary current wire,
this w ire being grounded to the distributor casing, thereby
m aking it impossible to w ire around the device. T h e new
generator is o f the power-house type.
T h e springs are o f the transverse, semi-elliptic type, de
signed and. built fo r the new Ford. T h ia type, w hich was
used in the M o d el T , was adapted to t i e new car because
no better spring type could be found. T hey are built o f
the finest spring steel, and the leaves are w id e, and thin.
Each spring is built up o f varying sixes and number o f leaves
to give proper flexibility and to meet rid in g requirements
o f die different body types. T h e size and number o f leaves
used in these springs is one o f the reasons why the new Ford
is such a comfortable qar. T h e constructiqn o f the trans
verse springs also contributes to the safety and efficiency o f
the 4-wheel brakes.
HYDRAULIC sh O C K ABSORBERS

T h e finest type hydraulic shock absorbers are standard
equipmentmn the new Ford. These, combine w ith the lo w
center of gravity, the minimum unsprung w eight, and the
easy rid in g qualities o f the transverse springs tq make the
new Ford one o f the most comfortable cars on the road today.
THREE-QUARTERS-FLOATING REAR AXLE
T h e rear axle o f the new Ford is o f the three-quarter»«
floating type. T h e axle housings are made entirely o f steel,
built up by w elding steel forgings to steel tubing. T h e dif
ferential housing, to w hich these housings are bolted, is
made o f rolled channel steel. T h e axle shafts carry none o f
the w eight o f d ie car, the wheels running on ro lle r bearings
on the nousing. A ll bearings in the rear axle arc o f the
ro lle r type. D rive is by spiral bevel gear.'

FORD-DESIGNED StEEL-SPOKB WHEELS
O rig in a l design and great strength are tw o features that
m ark the unique, Ford-designed steel-spoke wheels. Bach
wheel is assembled by w elding, and becomes one piece o f
metal. Spokes cannot w o rk loose. Each spoke has a ten
sile strength o f 4 0 0 0 pounds. Outside spokes do not cross,
so that the wheels are easy to dean. T h ere are only 30
spokes in each wheel.

BEAUTIFUL NEW LOW BO D Y LINES
T h e re is a nit o f the European touch in the coachwork and
contour o f the new Ford. Bodies are steel. Fenders are o f
the fo il crow n type. Appointments and hardware are e f a
luxurious type seldom found in a low-price car. Upholstery
is o f rich, mirable material. Cushions are deep and easy.
D o o r handles and w in d o w lifts are folly nickeled. Speedom
e te r, g a s o lin e gauge, a m m e te r and ig n itio n lo c k are
mounted 'on an instrument panel o f satin-finish nickel,
illu m in ated by a lam p in center. Headlam ps and rad iato r
shell are fully nickeled. Closed cars have the new m ilitary-
type sun visor and crown roof. Greet care has bean taken
in designing the new Ford to provide generous seat apace
and ample leg room. Clear/ unobstructed vision is assured
st front Dy unusually narrow pillars and at sides by specially
designed doors w ith large windows.
CHOICE OF FOUR COLORS
T h e color combinations used on the new Ford are espedally
artistic and attractive. Four color choices ace offisred for
