Preliminary .plans looking for­
ward to the establishment of a
motion picture studio in Ashland
were adopted last evening at a
meeting of business men»at t h e
chamber of commerce.

H. G. Harlan were appointed a
committee to interview interested
parties after it . was shown that
substantial support was promised
by thoee attending the meeting;
J. A. McGee was appointed
chairman of the meeting and
called upon Mr, Carl Theobald to
present the pinna he has in mind
for a studio and allied businesses
which would be drawn to
the
movie center. Mr. Theobald de­
sires that the enterprise be start­
ed in a small way and as Interest
develops and the first pictures
'begin to bring In revenue to make
additions to the property and fa­
cilities for not only making pic­
tures but to popularise the stu­
dio grounds and other attractions.
A pioneer city w ill event nally be
built which w ill be typical of the
west and be an added attraction
to stopping the'tourists who visit
this section by the thousands ev­
ery summer.
Several sites were mentioned
and these will be investigated and
ptae of them chosen for the studio
end pioneer city.
As a training school for those
who will participate in the mak­
ing of the ptetttipe, Mr. Theobald
w ill start immediately a screen
historical society. Member» * pt
this society will meet, regularly
and Mr. Theobald will instruct
them in the art of make-tfp Ad
screen acting. Branches of this
soofety w ill be located in various
coastAowns and cities.
A second meeting w ill be held
on Friday evening of this week
when reports will be received on
’ eouipment needed in the studio
and a site for the enterprise.
