SEATTLE, Sept. 17.— (LP) — What is considered as an attempt to modernise Sunday s c h o o l teachings was won at the 44th an nual Puget Sound conference of the Methodist Episcopal chnrch here today. The more modern members of the conference asked an amend ment to conference rules calling "adhrence- to Christ’s teaching in Sunday schools in accordance to a changing world.” The “chang ing world” phrase stirred many of the ministers and brought forth the first bitter debate of the ses sion. A faction, led by the Rev. J. Crowther, Seattle, fougbt for the amendment and won. Rev. Crow ther said he differed from the lit eral translation of the Bible and quoted as an example the «pas sage where Moses says that, child ren who disobey their parents should be stoned to death.
