ignored. There is no orator of the day, or the night
either, and it looks like some committee has been
asleep at the rat-hole of public delight, aad for
Heaven’s sake, don’t wake them up. H tike jollifi-
cation comes to a conclusion without a flood of
oratory it will be just too sweet for anything, and
just cause for thanksgiving. Suppose there whs an
orator of the day, persuaded to get into the public
eye and ear through the medium of his vocal or-'
gans. He would probably get up on his hind legs
and start talking about the glories of the fog, and

This is almost invariably the windup of the
story brought hack by every Ashlandfer who using
the excuse of his need of a vacation, turns the radia­
tor of his automobile outward and hies himself
and his family to parts beyond his customary hori­
zon, be it far or near.
Such sentiments, however, are not confined to
Ashlandera. It seems like every vacationist on his
return does so with the feeling that the old home
town is about the best place in the -whole universe.
It has to be an humble town indeed which does not
call from the returned voyage an expression of in­
creased love and affection.
The secret of this, of courae, is the fact that
the old home town harbors that place which the
voyager calls “ home.” h i spite of the fact that
for some the home town sometimes may get on their
nerves by the monotony of things, the truth of the
old song remains—“ There is no place like home.”
It is mighty nice, in these days of automobiling,
when practically every family owns a car, and can
go as far as they please, or as for As the money
holds out, and return when they get ready, to
embark on a vacation trip. However, the return
to the four walls of thw home nest is usually fes
enjoyable as the start on the trip. In spite of all
of tike joys of adventUBS which come in the pro­
cess of the trip, the«« hr a certain nervous strain
about it that cannot' he dispelled until one gets
back home ang finds complete relaxation within
tfce community,* these trips out into the
f other localities, especially as far as Ash-

ft home with a little greater appreciation
