For some time. Harry Silver,
president of The Natural LitMa
Springs eompany. has been corres-
p^idlng with the department of
agriculture relativee to this desig­
nation of local sp'ring water aa
"Lithta" water. He was only re­
cently Instructed by the depart-
ment that the further uee of the
word Lithia on his bottle labels
was absolutely prohibited and
I that any water put on the market
under the title of Ashland Lithia
Water would be libeled and con-
flscated by the department, and
the company would be prosecut-
ed by the department for viola-
tlon' of the pure food and drugs
act. He therefore. Immediately
ordered the discontinuance of the
Ashland Lithia Water label.

partment of agriculture:.
"Our records show that on
February 5, 107. The Bureau
notified the Southern Oregon
Land and Investment company,
Ashland, Oregon, to the effect
that no water should be designat­
ed as a “Lithia" water unless It
contained a full medicinal dose of
Lithium Ih such quantity of wa­
ter aa would be consumed by the
average individual lit 24 hours.*
On June 17, 1210, the Bureau ad­
vised the same firm that to be
designated as a lithia water, a wa-
