It is a fine thing to load up the family ear
with a basket of good things to eat, pile in the
youngsters and, after finding some nice, shady spot
in the coantry, proceed to enjoy an old-fashioned
picnic. It does the little folks a world of good
even if they do get a few mosquito bites and drink
a few gnats or ants with the lemonade and dad and
mother are better for the expérience. Mother espec-
ia ty will enjoy the change from a hot kitchen and a
pah fall of dirty dishes thereafter to wash.
. But after you have enjoyed the privilege of us
ing someone else’s grounds for your picnic don’t
forget that common oonrtesy demands that yoh
clead-np tht * femnfcnts Of your feast and leave the
place as clean and inviting as it was when yon came.
- There mhy be others Who will want to use the
premises for; a siph}ar purpose and they will not
relish eating among scattered newspapers and rem
uants of your eatables,
; Don’t spoil one o f Nature’s beauty spots by
your own carelessness.

a Man Drunk?
Tramsndoua increase of automobile accidents
due to alleged intoxicating, ha« intensified the legfel
controversy over fhe question of when is a man
drunk! Many courts have held that the recognition
of drunkenness is A matter of simple observation,
on which any one may testify without any claim
to expert ability or special training. Many others
have held that “ surfaceindications” are not suf
ficient* evidence even though the accused may have
a bottle in his possession. Again, it has been shown
that what might put one nutti down would hardly
affect another.
Now science proposes to solve the problem by a
very simple process. A7 blood test would tell the
stof7, positively, but because of the difficulty of
obtaining spinal fluid for the test, the accused is
now mked to inflate a football. This breath is then
analyzed and if it is found- to contain less than one
milllgrtm o f alcohol for each cubic centimeter of
bloof he iy pronounced dry aad decent If he has
1.5 mg. he is just devilish; with 2 to 3 mg. he is
delinquent ana foolish; 3 to 4 mg. registers the pa
tient as disRy and delirious; 4 to 5 mg. puts him in
the dazeA elass and more than this labels him dead
drunk.
